My current laptop is on the blink <===by this i mean dead pretty much

I am completely skint as other things in my life have drained my resources

So if someone could tell me if this budget setup would be work OK for Star trek online that would be great

HP Pavilion g6-2213sa 15.6" Laptop
- Quad-Core AMD A8-4500M processor (1.9 GHz, 2.8 GHz with Turboboost, 4 MB L2 cache)

- Graphics card AMD Radeon HD 7640G Discrete-Class
up to 4.98 GB of dedicated RAM

- RAM 8 GB (2 x 4 GB)

- Operating System Windows 8

My current getup is a sony vaio with a core 2 duo processor 4gb of ram and a 1gb ATI Graphics card seemed to do fine

any help would be much appreciated thanks
----=====This is my opinion you don't have to listen and no one else has to read them these "OPINIONS" are based on my exploits and my learning other people will have their opinions and that's fine just don't knock my way of doing things thanks=====----

Should be fine

It might get a bit choppy if doing pvp/starbase defence on high graphics settings sometimes, but that's the particle systems for you - I'm pretty sure most people have that issue.

I used to run sto on a laptop with 2,1ghz dual core (core2duo), 3 gb ram and a graphics card with 256mb dedicated +768mb shared ram, and that went fine on medium settings. And that's worse than both your current and your proposed systems

There is a website that can scan your computer & determine if it meets the minimum and recommended requirements for specific products or games like STO.
