And the first match was like... WTF?

Ok, getting my arse handed to me is not a big matter. Got used to this. But what the heck is good enough in endgame PvP to stay playing it. Escpecially from a new F2P character viewpoint?

You get into the fry with mission reward equipement, your standard BOFFs you train or can train on ESD. Some DOFFs you got for free and then? Then you go against JHAS, two HECs, Vesta and some Tholian ship. Most (all?) have BOFFs trained by them and their fleet members, full stack of blue/purple DOFFs they want (and not simply get during levleing), best equipement you can grind, reputation stuff.

Anyone can give a single, tiny reason to actually play endgame PvP? Instead of scrapping my character and starting again enoying the cheese/C-Store/grind free PvP from lvl 5 to 49? Or leave the game and move somewhere else?

I have hard time finding some fun in such fights.

Sounds like you were unlucky to find a JHAS

The only thing I can recommend is practice practice practice

There will be matches where you just can't get a foothold unless you are in a premade

But there will also be matches where you have real good fun over time these will increase in frequency

What ship do you fly and what captain are you then you could get some suggestions on what to fly and shoot

I'm playing about ATM with a Klingon that runs only free or exchange stuff and its been quite successful I run a voquv with all either green blue quality or mission loot stuff if you get in a good pug you can still do well

It's not about JHAS. 1v1 I'm able to kill it both in my DSSV (unless he run away ) and sciscort I fly from time to time. It's more about: "where is the fun in being spammed, cheesed and placated at all time". And what's to learn from this? That I need to grind instead of play PvP?

I'm sci and I fly DSSV as my primary ship and Patrol Escort for PvE (and some PvP from time to time) as it's faster to do in escort. And yes, I use free stuff to. I was thinking about getting Nebula (Vasta is a spammer so no-no for me), but can hardly find a reason to spent money on endgame PvP.

Ah I see I thought that's hat you were complaining about the placate thing is a joke how I he'll would one starship be able to stop another starship in its tracks with pixie dust

One guy in my fleet can hold someone for 55 seconds with very little resistance towards it

You really have to enjoy the ale to play it further if by then unfortunately not much you can do

I very rarely spend in game most is just dilit and ec which nowadays is very easy to come by

if all you did up to level 50 was pve, well sorry it didn't teach you how to play correctly. infact it proboly gave you bad habits. it even continued rewarding you even though you may have had an extreamly bad build. but thats pve for you, things are different when you actually fight ships your on equal terms with.

check out the boot camp sub forum, theres a link to it on the top of the pvp forum section. i also have a large help thread sticked here too, its got general information and nice simple cheap to make builds to use wile you learn to actually play the game. and quite a few more advanced expensive builds with lots of min/maxing and expensive doff requirements.

if you have fun in the space pve, and like the basic game play, you will love it even more once you become competitive in pvp

This.

And you really might want to focus on your patrol escort first -- running APO 1 and 3 will do a lot to keep you out of character control, as well as helping you maximize the escort's inherently high defense. There are gaps, but it's easy enough to fill those with evasive maneuvers and engine batteries. Basically if you run the build in Hilbert's guide in the Boot Camp section you can stay free of CC long enough to have a bit of fun.

The spam and cheese will still be there, but you can zip in and out of them with some practice.

Simple answer is teamwork and a team to play with.

I PvP for fun. And I have a lot of fun in PvP in S4. Little less in S5 as the fighter spam started to hit the PUGs more and more. S6 was spam everywhere...

Now it's simply that there is no fun at all. It's just: you spam, I spam, everyon throw cheese and counter cheese. Perhaps I'm old fashioned when it comes to games. But when I PvP I want to fight against someones skill. Not his wallet.

Devorax - I'm PUGer. And this won't change.

I just had my "good bye" run through Ker'rat. Was kinda fun to observe dozen Acetons going off at one when someone fit FAW. I think I create new toon and have some fun. L2P - perhaps. But I wanna fun and cannot find in at endgame PvP.

Unfortuantly thats the "way" of gameplay these days, hell even in real life. Its no longer a competition of skill, its a competition of whos willing to spend the most.

The reason I've found to play endgame pvp is that it REALLY ups your game. I don't die in PvE anymore unless I do something really stupid, like alpha strike that Cardassian ship that does Feedback Pulse or sit in front of a borg gateway/tac cube.

It's a tough learning curve, especially space, but when you do learn it, you've pretty much mastered the game.

If you're sick of space already, give ground a try and don't give up when you meet the dumb cloaker kitties who oneshot people while still stealthed. They will be dealt with soon, I hope.
