I don't switch out too often, but I have a few powers that I have to manually re-add to my tray. Seems to be a loaction issue rather than tied to a power (tray 6 slot 5). Can't seem to figure out a pattern, but it started happening since WW. I'd be all for a saveable config for each ship/shuttle.
you asking for boff profiles.. which isn't a bad idea either, but an easier approach is if the game simply remembered the last power tray location that a boff power was assigned to, no matter if we retrained a boff with new powers or not.
What you stated is that with a flick of a button or drop down, I can have different combinations of boffs for different styles of play.
For example.. supposed my eng and sci boffs basically stay the same, but I often switch out my tactical boffs depending on the tactical style I need.
One of my commander tactical boffs is loaded up on APO3/APO1. Perhaps I would name this boff profile as "Tactical Attack Defense"
Another of my commander tactical boffs is loaded up on APB3/APB1. Perhaps I would name this boff profile as "Tactical Attack Offense"
This, of course, would only be able to be changed outside of red alert, like current game standards dictate.
But in lieu of that elaborate new feature that you suggested, which is a good one... how about we just ask for the boff power assignments on the power tray to be fixed so that a specific boff lieutenant power is always assigned to power tray (x, y) regardless and because it was assigned there the last time the boff was used.
That would meet 85% of your total needs in lieu of the boff profiles idea that you suggested

id be happy even if something as minor as 'lock' actually mean 'lock' and i didnt find things in there simply because i loaded a boff or a weapon or whatnot.
Started day 1; Lifer & founder and for the past 3 years this has grown into my number 1 irritation and aggravation! Over the past 3 years Ive gathered for my main toon more than merely a few ships of differing types and when switching ships especially from one type to a very different type such as an escort tactical to an large Cruiser engineer ive had all the troubles mentioned above. Seems to have gotten worse over the years and the new Shuttle set up seemed to increase the disorganization of skills powers devices etc when switching ships. All in all its a mess unless one plays one ship. I'd hoped by reading up on key binds and hot bars on the forum I'd find a fix for this; instead I found this thread. Ah well the worst aspect of this game now is this problem for anyone who has and uses multiple ships. Hope they fix it sooner than next Winter as said above like THIS SPRING!
Also as a side note when one has been playing long enough one does have ships that one outgrows; lower level and all, they do is take up space; cant trade them or sell them or give them to a lower lvl Alt or anything. This is just stupid. I like them for a spin once in a while for nostalgia; but its such a complete waste making no sense what so ever that the only option for these ships is discard. They need to change the rules on that too; at least make them account bound so Alts can use them but even that is not enough for when the alts are leveled up the problem still exists? So Either get out Boffs set up as captains to use those ships as talked of in dev blog i read or let us somehow sell or trade them PLEASE.
Lastly, some folks since Season 7 patch have suddenly found in clusters and nebula etc that they can no longer visually see anymore and thus go to anomalies to scan them to get their combines for crafting. Its been like 3 months that i have not been able to scan and visually see to go to any anomalies in any Nebula or Cluster..
SO STOP TRYING TO FIX SOMETHING NOT BROKEN LIKE THE FOUNDRY WHICH YOUVE NOW BROKEN AND ACTUALLY FIX SOMETHING THAT IS BROKEN PLEASE!
