Stay clear of the Oddy unless A) You're an engi (which you already stated you aren't, or B) You're willing to get the 3 pack.

However, as stated earlier, the Vesta is a GREAT alternative if you're looking to mix things up but still be viable. From what I have seen of that ship, she's a mean btch in the right hands. And I mean MEAN.

Just my 2 cents.

P.S. The Armitage, MVAE, and FPE are also really good alternatives. Or if you want to try something radically different, try the Galaxy-X. Don't expect anything great out of it, but it's your zen and your call.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
Why the Devs can't make PvE content harder. <--- DR proved me wrong!

Don't buy the ship. Cryptic's so bound and determined to suck all the fun out of the game in favor of turning it into a no-reward grind-fest that it'll be a waste of your money when you leave the game in another month or two.

Wait until Black Friday. Seems like the kind of day they might do a sale. Either that or after Christmas. Save a couple of bucks.

I would recommend you get the Oddy pack and use all consols especially the ops and tac ones. The saucer separated makes the oddy turn like an escort.you can put on single cannons and turrets on the oddy.

One ship I'd really like to try is the Fleet Patrol Escort - basically my current ship...only better.

Unfortunately, when I go to the shipyard it says I don't have the required 4 fleet ship modules.

Question:Is this something that needs to be accomplished by our fleet first as part of the starbase building process? When I visit our starbase page (Tactical Assault Command), I see a ship provisioning task underway, but it's still incomplete.

And what about the button at the bottom of the shipyard page that offers to let you buy a shipyard module (for 500 zen!)? Will that work? Can I pony up 2K zen and just buy the necessary fleet modules so I can get a Fleet Patrol Escort or similar?

Frankly, these fleet versions seems like more of what I'm looking for in a ship. Is there a way to buy one without waiting for your fleet to complete some task?

Advice/guidance appreciated!

Oddy tactical cruiser, such a joke, if it doesn't have cmdr tac its not a tactical ship in my meaning. I haven't tried it though, so I am not bashing the ships itself.
A contract is a contract...(but only between Ferengi).

First you have to have 4 fleet modules ($20) and 20,000 fleet credits. Then you have to be in a fleet who's shipyard is of the appropriate tier, has ship provisions available, and are of a fleet rank that has permission to use those provisions. If you have all of those, then you can go to a shipyard on the starbase or ESD and acquire a fleet ship. Note, this only unlocks it for that character, not account-wide like c-store purchases do.

Well, I pulled the trigger on the Fleet Patrol Escort. So far, very happy. Nice bump up in shield capacity and hull strength, plus the extra eng console slot allows me to install an extra Neutronium device to boost my all around resists. So now it looks like:

4x Polaron DHC (Mk12 Borg)
3x Polaron Turrent (Mk12 Borg)
Full MACO Mk 12 set
Eng: RCS Mk.11 (spin, baby!), 3x Neutronium Mk.11
Sci: 2x Field Gen Mk. 11
Tac: 4x Polaron Phase Mod Mk 11

Again, very happy with my choice - I thought I wanted a cruiser, but I guess I'm just a tac/escort guy at heart.

And note: I paid for it all with dil conversion to zen, so at the end of the day it's all just funny money to me.

hi.. super noob question.. i just turned rear admiral and i want to get a multi-vector assault ship.

do you have to own an advance escort ship first before getting the multi-vector assault capabilities at the c-store?

or can i just purchase the MVA escort at anytime as long as i have 2500 zen?

the wording on the descriptions are all very confusing. it sounds like i can purchase the ship outright at the c-store. but at ship requisitions it sounds like i just need to aquire a console to have MVA capabilities..

HELP!

The MVAE is purchasable at any time after you hit Level 40, no need for the Dilithium/token AE. However, the C-Store MVAE and the Dilithium AE have different Bridge Officer layouts, so Cryptic allows you to take the console from the MVAE and use it on the AE (or Mirror Patrol Escort) if you like it's layout instead.
