Save up your ECs then. There are plenty on the exchange.

If you were remotely interested in return, that's probably the only thing you'd bother keeping. The rest of it is exchange fodder if all you're looking to do is grind up your in-game resources because you want to win at fake monies. And if you're looking to actually get the ship, you'd have kept those so you can convert that Dil into Zen into Keys.

Then again I suppose it shouldn't be surprising that the kind of people silly enough to pay what 100 keys cost are also the kind silly enough to pitch the reward that actually requires them to play the game, I suppose.
I still have the 76 Dilithium Mining Claims, definitely not very bright about Dilithium Mining, tried it once and it was very boring, not sure I have the stomach for doing it another 76 times whatever the return is (someone can tell me if they like), I may give it a go.

Thanks to everyone else for the feedback, I did it because I wanted to know (and, of course, I would have liked the ship) and, lastly, I had nothing better to do with a million dil (I am not trolling, I just have everthing I actually need to enjoy playing the game).

You can get 5000 dilith per claim if you're even remotely good at it.

Or, to put it plainer: You can recover up to 380000 of your costs with those.

On a timer. You cant mine repeatedly in a day.

Those 76 claims will take him 2 months and a week to consume.

You also get partical traces if you get a score of more than (I think) 775.

Combine with a blue-or-better Particle Trace astrometrics DOff, and each trip to Vlugta should see you coming away with 7-8 traces (worth between 15k and 90k EC each, depending what you get), 5,000 dil from the premium dil vein, and another 1,000 dil from the 5 normal veins.

The dilithium mining claims only require you to mine at one location for 60 seconds and you're done. It's the easiest 5k dil ever. As for lock boxes, I find from my experience that opening the boxes the day they come out seem to have better odds than later on after it has been out for awhile. I have gotten ships on the last two boxes the day they were released both in less than 10 tries. I don't like the boxes either but I wish I knew you were giving up 990k dil I could have used it on my starbase. I got the ship and sold it for 100 mil EC so I could buy other things I wanted/needed but would have loved the dil. I have been opening boxes for the mining claims just so I can save time on earning dil on my 15 toons.

Buying lock boxes for anything other than lobi seems to be keeping your hopes up way too high in my opinion. In saying that, I did manage to land a new dominion escort after just 36 tries... Sold it the same day too! The first and only time I have ever gotten such a special treat. I recently purchased the temporal destroyer... A much better ship than the Wells imo. Anyways, the point is, its a lottery, only in this case you can sell the majority of stuff on the exchange and make some of your Ec back.

Jack, you're absolutely right that expecting specific rewards from the lockboxes is a recipe for disappointing. Like you, the only prize I count on is the Lobi and doff packs... if I get a rare prize on top of that I look at it as a bonus.
