First, last and always my Defiant class. I've even skipped getting a ship at Rear Admiral level just to go from my refit to my retrofit. And now I am awaiting our Starbase to reach tier 3 for my fleet Defiant.

I've tried lots of different ships, and the Heavy Escort Cruiser from the c-store is another favorite, but I always return to the U.S.S. Avenger B (eventually to be the U.S.S. Avenger C).

Granted it could not fight it's way out of a wet paper bag, but that's what you have a bug ship for.
LOL.

Believe it or not, I'm actually thinking of making a character to put in a Freighter--I'd make this character a merchant/Dilithium Miner.

The Defiant has always been my favorite ship from the shows/movies, but when I first started playing STO, I wanted to be more of a Tac/Cruiser captain. I liked the idea of having a giant ship with powerful weapons, and even leveled all the way to Rear Admiral, Lower Half in Cruisers.

It was pretty fun in the beginning with the lower-level cruisers, but once I hit Captain and got stuck in the big ol' Galaxy, I started considering making the jump over to Escorts. It wasn't until I got the free ship token at Rear Admiral, Upper Half (this was before the game went F2P) that I decided to cut my teeth on the Advanced Escort.

I've been flying the Defiant Retrofit (now a Fleet Defiant-R) for about two years now. I never bought the Defiant-R from the C-Store since I got it with a token, but I did buy the Sao Paulo. I still stick to primarily Defiant parts on my ship, though. And no amount of theorycrafting about how much the [Dmg] modifier sucks compared to [Acc] modifiers will get me to swap out my Quad Cannons.

its so nimble, so powerfull and gracefull.
To some it is an overdone, overrefitted old bucket. But for me it is THE Ship. [...] everytime im not using the Excelsior it somehow feels wrong.
I do collect Starships like crazy but the Excelsiors are where its at imho.
Same here on all counts

Its called the temporal destroyer!

Ah, being a child of the 80's and having grown up on the classic stuff I cannot deny that my fav ship is the Enterprise A... which as we all know cannot be used for long and hence I fly a combo of my Temp Destroyer and Breen Ship. I do like the Ambassador too and if I squint my eyes I can pretend occasionally that it is in fact the Connie.

It's odd - one of the reasons I love the Fleet Rhode Island so much is that I loved the old T2 version. I stuck with that little ship right up to T4, when swapped it for the Long Range Science vessel.

Needless to say, I was one of the players constantly saying that I wished that they would produce a T5 Nova class, and was ridiculously pleased when it was announced that a Fleet version would be produced.

If it wasn't for the fact that it takes so much retraining to go between the two ships I'd probably split my time between my vesta and the Fleet excelsior.

On escorts, I gotta throw a vote to the simple Patrol Escort. It doesn't have any of the fancy features of the Defiant or Armitage or MVAE, but it doesn't have any of their weaknesses or quirks either. Its just rock solid, easy to use, and I know I can always count on it.

For the same reasons I fall back on the Patrol Escort, for cruisers I go with the Star Cruiser (though use the Mirror version to get the Sovreign style). All the C-store cruisers are 'better,' but the Star Cruiser just plain works. Science ships, I gotta go with the Mirror DSSV, where you get the engineer ensign but Recon Sci looks and mobility for a wonderful ship.

Then Klingon side, the only choice is the Bird Of Prey. It can't tank and it can't spit out fighters, but it can rock as an escort or a sci ship or all kinds of hybrid combos, and with that speed and the battle cloak its just plain FUN to fly. There are fancier ships for specific purposes, but I just can't imagine not hanging on to a BoP in reserve.

Consistently, I've been seen going back and forth between my Vesta-class MMSE and my Galaxy-X with the Venture skin (1st colour black, 2nd colour white). Occasionally I hop in the Galaxy-Retrofit, but I get tired of the Cryptic interpretation of the ship pretty quickly.

Up until recently I would never, ever consider parting with my Intrepid class.

Sure it was a T4 Sci ship and I am a Tac player, but it had reasonable maneuverability compared to the flying brick-like Odyssey class, and had fairly good science power slots compared to escorts (my playing style is a bit of DPS plus some science abilities).

Last week I finally made a long and hard decision...to get a Intrepid Retrofit
