So, now that I am still sobbering over the loss of the Chel Grett, I got the ambassador thanks to a friend! :3 How should I equip the ship? o: Currently, I am running all Polaron. Five beams, two of which are in the back along with one turret, and a chroniton mine launcher. Three beams forward, 1 quantum forward. I have three Polaron damage enhancers (forgot what they're called!!!), and something that gives my torpedo +11 damage. ! What can help make the Ambassador Class turn better, btw? My engine gives +7 to turn, yet it does little.
On a side note, since I was 8yrs old, watching TNG with my dad, I always wanted an ambassador class. Finally, years after watching the USS Enterprise C kill herself, I finally have it! (Too bad all those super enhanced weapons on the Enterprise C during the mission, didn't come with us. Q_Q!)
I'm using 6 beams the breen cluster torp and the bio warhead
In no way is it optimal but it's fun for pve(I have serious builds)
I too am a massive fan of the ship along with the galaxy class however I find this ship to be really good it can tank it can lay down damage and it moves a shade load better too( than the galaxy)
Would be interesting to see some optimal builds in preparation for the fleet version as I'm a little rusty with cruiser ways
----=====This is my opinion you don't have to listen and no one else has to read them these "OPINIONS" are based on my exploits and my learning other people will have their opinions and that's fine just don't knock my way of doing things thanks=====----
I'm also using conn officers to take TT1 down to global, and have doffs for the torp attacks so it fires more often. It's a strong enough healer, but will be better once I've gotten some other bits of kit on there. I may ditch the photons, but as a healer I'm not doing much damage anyhow, and it's good to have kinetic on hand for stuff like unshielded STF borg lumps, or aceton assimilators in PVP. Having no torp powers, photons give me the best DPS, especially with the doffs I have.
Anyone else wondering how the heck a ship closer in size to the Galaxy class than the Excelsior class it replaced has 50 FEWER crew than the old Excelsior?
Either they're packed in like sardines in the old Excelsior, or Ambassadors must feel like ghost ships outside of the Bridge and engineering.
If found a really good build for this ship and it fits in with the story (kind of) The Romulan gear, The full XII purple Romulan set,
Romulan XII DBB, Experimantal BA, Romulan BA, Romulan Hyper Torp
Rear Weps, Borg Cutting beam, Romulan BA X2, Omega Torp.
2 XII Plasma Tac consoles, 1 XII plasma Torp console, Borg 3x set, Romulan 3x set, XII field Gen, XII EPS (for BO), Nuetronium Armor, and 3 Torp Doffs, and 2 Doffs that reduce ability cooldown
I figured that the romulan captured the ship and it was badly damaged so they has to repair it with their own technology. And in game it does very well as a Plasma boat, The Romulan shields are Ok and the set abilitys are so-so, its not a bad set at all with the other Romulan gear, (Prototype Plasma Projectiles) SO yes this is a very very expensive build, 24k Dil a pop per Wep from the Reputation store. But it does good and rolls in ESTF's with no issues.

T
They did pack them into the Excelsior look on Memory alpha there are screen shots of the Crew quarters and they were lined up in Bunk beds racks and older ship were not as automated as the new ships so they needed more crew.

the ambassador has crew quarters like shown on the galaxy like a small apartment
wile the excelsior has much smaller quarters with bunks much more spartan similar to what was shown on the defiant then the lofty exploration ship
