They aren't identical, they are just extremely similar, not worth buying it

Vague claims like this are abundant. I want hard numbers to compare the stats between Mk X, Mk XI, and Mk XII.

Devs? Please?

No need to call a dev, you can check that by yourself. There is a difference between them, and it's not big. For example, the shield is 1937.5 at mkxi, and 2000 at mk xii.
The engine is the same no matter the tier. But you loose the set bonus if the tier is not matched with the rest.
If you want more hard data, I suggest to check ingame more closely.

Sure, that's a great option after you buy it all, Mr. Helpful.

So, no difference to turn rate, flight speed, engine power, etc., between Mk XI and Mk XII? The only reason to buy it is to keep the set bonus? Well that's just ducky. I suppose it's the same with the deflector.

I say that needs another pass, then. It must be an oversight that there's no significant improvement for investing in Mk XII. That is something a developer must answer.

Given how much the Jem'Hadar Mk XII space set was just recently buffed over the Mk XI, I'm surprised that no similar upgrade was done for other end-game sets.

I guess Cryptic is taking plays from the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition.

Stahl commented on that in some blog somewhere about the difference between mk xi and mk xii.. I can't find the blog (maybe it was a podcast) but mk xii items are there for the eye candy to make yourself standout for having the top most expensive gear.

It's the same thing in real life where some people like to own mansions, others prefer efficient housing that exactly meet their needs. When I have free dil, I will get the mk xii because it's a shiny lol (not because I want more firepower or durability). I really could not care less about a 1% performance boost.

On a side note, there might some merit in upgrading to mk xii from mk x and skipping mk xi altogether.

Looking at the Borg, MACO and Omega space sets on the surface, is it fair to conclude the following purposes?:

Borg/Assimilated Set: Good for escorts, not as good for tanking. Shield and engine buffs that kick-in.

MACO: Looks good for tanking in Cruisers: Shield and structural boosts.

Omega: Looks more like Science ship boosts. Particle generator, Graviton generator boost, etc.

I'd like the experts opinions! Thanks!

Tip of the day : if you hover your mouse cursor over the item in the reputation window, you'll see the stats, before buying it.
You're welcome.

And yeah, the engine is the same according to tooltip, but you need the appropriate tier engine for the set. I don't think it's an oversight. If the Mk x and XI had less stats, they would be less powerful than a purple MK XII random loot. Less speed and turn rate, which is more valuable than any warp speed on sector map.
I just checked, and the others OMEGA reputation engine works the same, sometimes they have a slight increase in a minor stats (driver coil bonus for example), but that's all.

If you want to buy the engine only, buy a Mk X. If you want the set, and plan to have MK XII shield/deflector, buy a MK XII engine.
