Okay, I want to settle this once and for all:


The Empire's motives for helping on New Romulus are as follows:

• Preventing the Romulans from joining the Federation outright, or making a close alliance that would shift the balance of power against the Klingons.
• Gaining a stronger alliance with Obisek. Even if the Romulans are dishonorable cowards, Obisek and his Reman followers are not.
• Preventing the Romulans from ever again being a strategic threat to the Empire, allowing more attention to be devoted to threats like the Borg or Undine.
• Ja'rod supports the alliance, as does at least one other high council member. And while J'mpok is not on the best of terms with Ja'rod at this point, he has no option other than to go along with him, as the (albeit weak) Duras/J'mpok alliance is the only thing preventing the House of Matrok from retaking power.

So this leaves Klingon players with several options:

• Support official Imperial policy and assist the Romulans wholeheartedly.
• Support official Imperial policy and aid the Romulans, but remain ever vigilant and watchful of treachery.
• Declare loyalty to the house of Duras and support the Romulans.
• Declare loyalty to J'mpok and support the Romulans.
• Declare loyalty to the house of Mar'tok and refuse to help the Romulans (liquidate any Romulan marks you get inadvertantly into dil).

Now choose an option and stop whining about Cryptic's "failure" to stay true to the Klingon spirit. If you feel that supporting the Romulans is a blow to your honor, just don't do it.

The first two reasons assume the New Romulus faction is still some kind of major military power. They're not.

'Helping' the Romulans while undermining their efforts to rebuild sounds like something Romulans would do. Klingons would more likely see the situation as an opportunity to wipe out the Romulans.

Ja'rod supports the alliance, but that's not a reason. Why does he support the alliance?

Family tradition.

This would work in the game if we had something like a real reputation system.

The way it is established now, if one decides to completely ignore it, risks staying behind many other players in many aspects of the game. Although I wouldn't mind ignoring the Rommies alltogeher and I doubt that it can be game-breaking for me. But it most certainly will for many others.

I don't tend to bash Cryptic. I really like the game, I have much fun playing it, I even subscribed to support it becasuse I really like it. The devs. so far have been very cool to me and they delivered on the several things I was bothering them about in the game.
It's just the way I am, I'm calling the things as they are. And what this is - is lazyness/lack of interest/rushing to release whatever you call it on their behalf that ends with yet another Fed. digest for the KDF.

I just don't get the point of the post at this particular time. Someone said something lately? I wish you good luck in trying to find logical explanation for the KDF helping Rommie orphans although I suspect there is one.

I would just assume vaporize every Romulan, reclaim rightful Klingon territories, and annex the remainder of the systems.

We don't know why Ja'rod supports the alliance, merely that he does. Take that as you will.

And yet the Klingons were all for invading the Romulan space even after 2387 . Not arguing with opening post I'm not complaining about the Klingons are. There are logical reasons why they'd act the way they are even if it is just for gameplay purposes in the end.

The issue woth the new Romulus content is that once again the KDF was copy/pasted into the content with just a late arriving explanation as to why rather than give us KDF a little KDF flavor in the new content that made more sense in relation to STOs backstory.

The KDF was and has been invading the old RSE territories, reclaiming systems once ours and conquering new ones. We fight the Romulans in one of our fleet actions and even go against Sela at one point in two missions.

The new Romulus sector doesnt have any hooks that give the KDD player a sense of what our history has been with the Romulons

Heck, the Bajoran content did a better job of giving a KDF sense of involvement with its gathering of intelligence and very KDF esque crowd control.

So the complaint is not so much that we are helping the RSE refugees but that we are not doing so in a KDF manner and are included as just another copy/paste.

The perception of KDF-esque involvement is all that many fans want, not a tack-on job after the fact that includes us as a fifth wheel.
