# 1 Fleet Nebula vs Fleet Olympic
02-18-2013, 11:51 AM
Now that the shield modifier on the Fleet Olympic has been increased to 1.43, it seems much more competitive with the Fleet Nebula.

So, of these two tanky science ships, which do you prefer for your play-style and why?

Of relevance ...
1. The Olympic turns better (13 vs 9)
2. The Nebula has more crew (750 vs 400)
3. The Nebula has a Lt Universal slot. Olympic has a Lt. Sci.
4. The Nebula has more hull (34,650 vs 28,050)

And looks are matter of taste here.

Thanks in advance,

Personally, I'm looking for versatility in group PvE. And by that I mean BOff swapping depending on what that particular group needs.

The Fleet Neb offers a universal Lieutenant station so you can put any class BOFF in it allowing for some nice versatility there.

As it has a much lower turn radius than the Olympic it's better suited for following and healing cruisers rather than escorts. This personally fits my play style better as I prefer to plod along following a cruiser while throwing out heals and Gravity Well.

With the proper gear the Nebula's shields and hull can take a massive beating. I've done pretty well with both Borg gear and Jem'Hadar full sets.

A Fleet Nebula torp boat works with the Borg /Romulan torpedoes.

I did this test and ran Infected Space Elite with the following ship gear on my Joined Trill Engineer:

Set-Adapted MACO space set (The Fed version of the Klingon Honor Guard space set)

Fore Weapons-Borg Omega Torp, Romulan Experimental BA, MK XII Romulan DBB
Aft Weapons-Borg Kinetic Cutting Beam, Romulan Plasma torp, Romulan MK XII BA

Tac- 2 MK XII rare Ambiplasma Envelope consoles
Eng- Borg Universal Console, MK XII rare RCS console, MK XI very rare Neutronium hull armor, Tachyokinetic Console
Sci- MK XI Romulan Shield Emitter console (bonus to plasma beam damage version), Romulan Zero Point console, MK XII rare Shield regen console, MK XI Romulan Graviton Console (plasma damage version).

BOFF seat:
Lt Tac; TT1, HYT2
Lt Uni: HYT1, TorpSpread 2
Lt Cmd Eng: EPtS 1, DEM 1, Aux2SIF 2
Cmd Sci: PH 1, HE2, TSS3, GW3
Ens Sci: HE1

I use also the Red Matter Capacitor and Subspace Field Modulator plus Aux batteries

It has a larger turn radius, and a lower turn rate. (Turn rate is inversely proportional to turn radius for a fixed forward speed)

I for one bought the fleet ARsVR aka nebula class some days ago.
Have to make up for some months I didnt play. (guess it was around oct. last year?)
Reputations are at tier 2 already. Oh, and the char is an unjoined Trill.

Here's my nebula loadout.
Not much fancy stuff but I do quite well for my standards.
Will post my char build sometime later in this thread when
I find out how to find my link in the skill planner

weapons fore:
2x adv fleet polaron xii BA, 1x Photon torp xii [borg]
aft: 2x polaron xi BA (one being dmgx3), 1x photon mines xii (dmgx2 iirc)

all purple ofc

borg engine and deflector, maco xi shield

eng: blue xi rcs, borg console, purple xi monotanium, blue xi energy resist as needed, usually the 4 resist stuff.
sci: blue xi shield hp, 3x xi blue particle gens
tac: 2x xi blue polaron

boff slots:

uni: tt1, torp spread
tac: tt1, pattern beta
eng: EPtS1 & 2, eject plasma
sci: sci team 1, transfer ss, repulsors (2?), grav well 3
sci: he 1

Duty Officers:
tac team - blue
sensor scan debuff - blue
brace for impact - blue
emergency power - purple
grav well - purple

I had aux2sif as the third engineering ability but that ejected plasma goes along well with the already stacked particle gens (have about 190 points in there in total)
Thanks to the universal slot I am able to quickly switch to tifferent boff loadouts without sacrificing too much. dps is meh but I am able to deal with massive probe spawn in KSE

I could use a bit input whether the romulan zero point module is able to warp me to andromeda or just gimp me further.

*edit: lets not forget the duty officers
*edit#2: for serious science I have the fleet dssv in a DBB layout. for flying escorts I use my tac char.
*edit#3: I just found "Cygone's Nebula Build" and will adapt.

The way crew works in the game, that gives the advantage to the golfball.

I would go with the Fleet Olympic the Nebula more crew is unimportant We all know that the crew option is a joke, and I like the more turn rate that the Olympic has
