is going AFK mostly a space issue? I run a ton of colony invasion and SB incursion and dont think I've ever had an AFK, for space missions I mainly doing ISE and whatever the daily is and dont think I've seen much afk expect for maybe scout force due to the respawn timers

Maybe I've just been really lucky?

The whole issue of rewards needs to be addressed.

In all missions there should be 3 scores: Damage, Healing (self and others) and threat generated.

The top mission reward should go to each of the three players who score top on each one (and yes someone could come top on two or even three counts, unlikely, but if you carry the match single handed, then why not be rewarded for it).

Anyone who does not generate a minimum amount of score in any one of the three (say 5 percent of the total, for a 5 player game, 1% for a 20) gets nothing.

And why:
Cruisers and Scis are no longer competing with Escorts for the top prize.
AFKers get nerfed forever.


Is it not that simple or am I missing something?

No it's not just a space issue. I had two AFKers in KA Ground a while back. They just stood in the chamber and didn't move until we had finished the boss.

They got really lucky with their rolls too as they managed to get all the loot everytime too.

Terrible idea, Escorts take threat control and get 3 top places because standard difficult missions are not even remotely challenging.. you can get through them without any Boff abilities.

Other then the fact that it doesn't actually work. Very easy to set up a keyboard macro or just put something heavy on a key so that you're making constant input in to the game and bypass the auto AFK system.

Even if they required 5 different types of input every 10 minutes, a keyboard macro can still get by that.

Yeh, my Escort keeps getting the threat title far too often, but what a joy it is (and a quick mission too) when there is a Cruiser doing it! This would encourage Cruisers to be Cruiser and reward them.

Escorts dont just win everything if the mission is easy, that is illogical.

I didn't say it would necessarily work, I do think it's a far more sensible idea than being able to boot people from a game on a whim because they're in a science ship instead of an escort.

Whatever system they introduce there will always be some kind of work around for the lazy people that wish to exploit the game.

True, but a AFK timer is so easy to get around it's not really worth the time it takes to code it in, at least if you want to exclude everyone who's not in a STF/Alert type event.

There's already a AFK timer I believe that will kick you out after 30 minutes or so. But that can't really be used effectively for STF's because you'd need to set it to say 5 minutes, which means anyone who walks away from the PvE story type stuff or a foundry mission gets kicked.

The current log out timer is 60 minutes of inactivity and I think you are labelled as inactive after 10.

You are right in that it wouldn't work anyway as a lot of AFK players sit there and need the loot so they don't count as inactive from that point of view, even if they don't move an inch or they'd use a macro or get their cat to play or something.

I think it's just a pug hazard that at the moment can't really be fixed without running a complete fleet group.
