"More improvements to the Andorian ship coming. The overload and tachyon burst will no longer put your rapid fire and scatter volley on gcd."

"Also, increase to the overload damage and a slight art improvement to the blast to better indicate its aoe radius."


Think these are good changes as the consoles were really hampered by the cooldown, and the overload was problematic for the build up and the total weapon discharge so better damage should hopefully compensate.


On a side note, I just noticed when the side cannons fire. there is a small animation. the centre cannon recoils while firing. I thought that was a neat touch

While the art improvement is great the dmg boost isnt needed. If i can hit for 70k dmg noncrit with just my own tac buffs and no one else debuffing its solid dmg especially as a 70k dmg AOE. I average 50k a hit on a shielded side of a d'drex warbird unbuffed. God help you if you take a maxed out go down fighting one lol.

The global cooldown being removed is welcome though as it does cause you to miss firing at a good time.

Personally I wouldn't care if those consoles were buffed up to 4 times their current effectiveness. I hate wasting permanently available stat boosts to get 3 minute cooldown one-offs. I'll never understand why people have such a hard-on for special consoles. When I get a new C-Store ship they are always the first thing that goes.

Because its flashy and cool, or that some are incredibly useful when you know what your doing with them. The trick is working them into a build that also uses their strength. For example my andorian ship build uses beam overload, chain a bo with a wo and say goodnight cause you just took 100k+ energy dmg, followed up by 4 quatum torpedos and 2 DHC + 2 Turrets on rapid fire.

Andorian escort has low survivablity so its best to spike the crap out of a target, torpedos and beams mixed in also cover firing arcs outside of 45 degrees. Lots of people thought 5 DHC would be epic and while it looks like it would be it causes serious inflexability in your defense.

You against 5 DHC in side 45 degree arc = Yousea gonna die. You outside of 5 DHC firing arc = lol poor escort.

Yes i think these are good changes because the consoles are kind of poor. the overload is a one time shot that take ages to charge, ages to get your weapon power back and is not guaranteed to hit big, and is affected by other cooldowns. you might as well not have it and equip another console and you do the same damage over time.

do other ships need balance, do the kdf need ships, does pve need to be harder? yes to all those things. but that does not mean consoles should be bad because other things need attention.

I tend to believe at least two of the consoles are worth it for the 10% accuracy boost, if you're going to use the wing cannons at all since they have no inherent accuracy bonus.

how exactly are klingon ships inferior again? how exactly does this break the balance with fed ships? every klingon ship(with the exception of the vo'quv) has innate cloak and can equip cannons, which given how beams are currently utterly pathetic is a huge plus.

And the best fed escorts, which are the fleet defiant and HEC are capable of doing similar damage to the new andorian escort.

Also c-store ships have always been better than free ones, i would to love to have perfectly balanced game, but we all know this will never happen in a f2p game.

i love to bash cryptic as much as the next guy due to their utter disregard for fixing bugs, but this is exagerated.

No KDF ship has 5 tac console. No KDF ship has 5 fore weapons. This ship has this. Cloak is really overestimated. I'm flying a Krenn destroyer on my kdf tac and i don't mind about the lack of battle cloak ability, it's not that useful.

Several c-store ship break one rule and get a little edge over other ships in one area, and that's fine. This one already breaks rules in two fields, and it will be 3 if the consoles get an upgrade. Fortunately the boff layout makes a torp almost mandatory, but it's a very small price to pay.

Also, keep in mind that the endgame KDF c-store choices are limited to:
Guramba
Bortas'qu
Kar'fi

With the following as rear admiral choices:
B'rel
Varanus
Marauder

Considering that "c-store ships have always been better than free ones", the KDF choice in "better than free" escort-ish ships is somewhat limited. To the Guramba, to be precise. That's one.

Please don't point at the B'rel, in this context: 3 tac slots, 2 rear weapons and weak hull and shields.

Versus the Armitage, MVAE, Kumari (Does that one count as 1 or 3 ships?) and Defiant retro.

Yeah.
