The numbers needed to meet reward "minimum-contribution" requirements can be set to arbitrarily low numbers... Something like 1000 damage or 1000 healing per minute after the first minute of match play. This way the AFK'er can't just deal massive damage for the 1st minute, then AFK the rest of the match since longer matches can increase these requirements. While the player does not meet minimum progress requirements, they are not allowed to roll for any loot.

The above would be fairly easy to code, and the player progress numbers can be scaled up or down depending on current rank.

What about the skittle boats we all end up carrying through STFs every now and then?

The only non-corruptive way to combat AFK's is to create a "Minimum Damage Requirement" value system imo.

Over and above the MDR will also be a more reliable, AND FAIR, determining factor in the allocation of Rewards.
One small problem I see is giving a fair MDR value to abilities like Power Syphon and Boarding Party.

*oops...and there are way too many currencies.
It has to come down to:
EC
Dil
Lobi
GPL

Fleet Marks?
I had no idea they were "currency".
NO to ARC...Make It VOLUNTARY

As for multiple currencies - well that's another topic.
The game already does that. And that's why these "AFK" people aren't actually AFK. As stated in a post after yours:

They got really lucky with their rolls too

If they're rolling, they're not AFK.

Can I just say that other games allow players to vote off afk'ers and they work just fine... being afraid to implement it due to concerns about 'corruption' is a lazy cop out... surely the leeching problem is far greater than the chance of a group of pugs booting off someone because they don't like them... if you get booted dont give a cooldown. that way if someone WERE booted maliciously they can simply rejoin another... no need for overcomplicated damage meters... just TRUST us...the VAST majority of people will embrace the idea and treat it with respect... yes you will get some numpty who will abuse it but there are far less of those than there are afk'ers...

If you've ever been unfairly silenced in this game you'll understand the fear. The silence tool was implemented to shut down goldfarmer spam. It gets abused to do more than that.

So the fear is legitimate.

What's wrong w/using private queues to avoid the AFKers and have better matches? Are these disabled again?

Edit: Public PvP queues can take 1/2 hour more to pop, votekick abuse would have a negative impact. There's chat channels where people X up for pugmades, somepeople even host matches larger than the normal 5v5. Seriously, why don't you do this if you're annoying w/the public queues?

no need for chat bans...just a boot off a match. Hell...make it only valid within the first few minutes of a game... that way even the poorer players in an stf still have the opportunity to piss off the more elite ones and not be booted...

In private ones dont you end up 9 times out of 10 in one about to finish/halfway through?
and besides...if that were the solution then get rid of public queues altogether...
