# 1 KDF needs some more love
02-23-2013, 11:09 AM
I play Fed and KDF both, but I wanted to say that I think we need some better KDF ships, especially if these eventual plans go through for a territory control game. With the Rommies coming in May I'm kind of concerned it will just make things worse.

I understand Cryptic/Perfect World is a business, and apparently the Klingon Flagship pack didn't sell as well as the Fed one, but when I notice things like the Vesta Bundle and now the new Andorian Escort bundle going Fed side, it raises some questions. Whether people pay cash or simply gring huge amounts of dil for Zen, these things DO get out there in numbers, and make what already seems to be an underdog faction (the height of irony) even further behind. The KDF really does need analogies to some of the other ship classes.

I'd also say that while maybe I missed it somewhere if an update happened (since I haven't flown my Oddy for a while) that the Flagship Cruisers do need a buff. They are supposed to represent the same "pinnacle of class" as the Vesta and Andie Escort do for theirs, yet they seem to be a console slot behind and such, where the others are more on par with fleet ships stat/console wise.

I've also felt for a while that the Oddy kind of gets screwed on a special power by not being able to launch both major "pets" (saucer and destroyer), but this is getting increasingly off topic to the bottom line that even if they don't sell as well, we need to start seeing more KDF versions of some of these sexy new Fed ships, especially if we ever want to see serious PVP, especially any kind of competitive PVP based on territory control, which seems to have been a plan I've been hearing for a long time now. Trying to balance things in the 11th hour when it's time for that release probably won't go over well, nor will dropping a lot of ships on the market at once, it takes time (both to sink in real money or farm dil) so for any long term plans to work ships need to be released early enough to give them a chance to proliferate and get out there. Dropping a new Klingon "super escort" on the market 2 days before Territory control a new year from now is meaningless for example, because not everone is going to be able to drop $50 immediatly or have hundreds of thousands of dil around, where the Feds would have had plenty of time for people who really wanted them to get them one way or another, meaning they would be out there melting faces and gutting hulls before The KDF could even begin to attempt anything close to factional parity.

Lol romulans in may? I love how a guess becomes fact no ther reason than wishful thinking. it could be anything in may, why people pretend its some fact that a whole new faction is coming is beyond me

Isnt it apparent by now that cryptic and pwe have no concern for the integrity of the balance of this game, its all about money. More fed players means only put resources into fed ship designs, they dont give a damn about pvp balance at all

They dont even add new endgame content, all they concentrate on is pumping out op ships for the more populous faction to maximize profit. Its pathetic, and why the p2w model is killing mmos, bring back the original monthly charge model, no more micro trans shartfests

I'm happy with my Fleet Corsair, I don't really have an interest in any others except just looking at thier stats and trying to figure out how they fit into STOs story line.

Wonder why they dont just punt cross faction bundles through the c/zen store? Two birds with one stone so to speak. Im sitting with over 5k zen but have no interest at all in fed packs and Ill hazard a guess Im not the only one.

I also suspect the reason they didnt make any money on the bort bundle was the fact its a huge great lumbering beast and only appeals to a limited group of fruit loops like myself.

cstore = no scambox money generated.

What I wonder is why they have ignored and continue and WILL continue to ignore the KDF.

Lowest population? Cmon thats caused by their incompetent design. Release as many ships to KDF as to fed, put a little effort into making a storyline (I mean hell they got tons of foundry-made storylines they could use... just with copy/paste, their favorite thing in the world!) and make it start at level 1 not 20 requiring a fed toon first.

Whoever in Cryptic makes the design decisions should be flogged with a whip made from his own foreskin. (ancient klingon purification ritual.. QAPLA!)

I play mostly fed myself (though I did create a Klingon toon recently and am loving it) but I do agree the Klingon need some kind of content. What I don't understand is why they don't just release re-skins of the fedships for the klinks so that they have access to the same stuff. I thought that when the vesta was released and I thought it again with the andorian escort pack.

Dstahl is still sticking too his "Moar KDF in May" scheme, despite there OBVIOUSLY being some sort of Romulan thing going on in may(not going too say a faction, that still seems a bit optimistic. Still cautiously confident).

Don't put TOO much stock in Branflakes words, but keep them in mind. Even if it's a single three pack of ships for the KDF, it'll be a big help, and shut a lot of people up. Specially if it's a good ship.
