I think its more along the lines of everyone doing it... pvpers, erpers, farmers, pvers etc...

as there has been no punishment.. tis either...

A) they cba

B) so many people were doing it they would lose X / ### of their player base.

This will only strengthen the game. Instead of people just grinding dilithium, people will buy c-points to convert to dilithium, which means more money flowing into the pockets of Cryptic/PWE, which means more money that can (and will, I know this must be shocking) be spent on this game.
Im going to disagree... since the fleet marks arrived.. its lead to more afking... I think this will lead to more afking until it becomes reward for participation.

They are planning on pushing out a change that will allow us to deal with AFKers. So, they can enjoy it while it lasts.

Again, created by them. This has been main stream for a LONG time. not a week not a month, Over a year. I used to do this with a group of friends every so often for marks.

Its not about marks. its about money, plain and simple, this was lost sales for them, and they will NOT put up with that, regardless of what happens.

doesn't effect me, I don't need the marks, I don't need the Dillithium. I get all I need, every day, with little effort. It became a problem for them, when they lost money. This "exploit, has been going round the forums for a very, long time.

This again,is poor design, poor implantation and very bad thinking.

They made that system, they made it alterable.

These dailies were also designed for a system that didn't have money involved in it, Marks. The old marks grind was set up to discourage you from using it to buy ships, it was doable, but it took a long time.

now, unless this mission spontaneously popped into existence; it had to be made. Who made it then, well since its not in the foundry, its clearly either the deity of your choice, or Cryptic. My vote is on the latter. So yes they created it.

Right... its been on the forums several times, its been around, since it was created, But its secret, so secret, that most folks knew about it/

Exactly, its costing them money plain and simple, and becayse it is, its an "exploit"

given this is twice in less than a month, they've dealt with design failure on their part that led to "exploiting" you've got far to much faith in them, for me, but hey, thats your choice, and you're welcome to it.

What I find odd in it, is its timing, again, it involves their source of money, so its fixed rapidly, even as its been around in whole, for a very long time.

The F2P model isn't even a factor here. What is, is priority. Why is it, that a game breaking bug, took several fixes. Yet an exploit that is clearly costing them money, was fixed rapidly, in one shot, oh, and in a fairly "stealthy" way.

In all my time with other MMO's they were big time to announce exploit closings Cryptic, no only doesn't do that, several times they don't even MENTION it.

Its not an exploit if you are already 5 days deep into the refinement cap by legitmate means (i.e. turning in BNPS).

Its not so much them patching an "exploit" but the fact that they felt a need to patch this but yet continue to ignore other more pressing issues, like the tholian red alerts being broken.

Instead of pushing resources towards useless changes to the game why dont you fix some damn bugs?

Watch the number of AFKers go up in pvp matches from this... its already getting really bad in STFs, now you're just spreading around the pain.

The way you're encouraging us to spend money leads me to believe you are a plant... EVERYONE should be able to enjoy this game without ever needing to spend a dime, thats what F2P is.

Saying we should welcome a change that is designed to enforce this point of view is dumb, DStahl was quoted somewhere as stating "If you're not having fun, whats the point?".

Well, you are sucking the fun out by making silly changes like this.

Yes, I could go play private pvp matches with my friends, with custom settings that allowed us to play in THE TIME WE HAVE AVAILABLE and I got dilithium and some fleet marks from it... SO EFFING WHAT?

Who was I hurting? Absolutely no one, except maybe Crptics/PWEs wallets.

I wasnt one of the douchenuggets starting new toons every 5 minutes to farm dilithium and the fact hadnt even crossed my mind until I saw it mentioned here.

For the 10 people "exploiting" the game there are probably 100 using it as designed by cryptic, and yes it was DESIGNED this way. If you hadnt put this in the game there wouldnt have been anything to figure out for those flat out exploiting this.

Stop pointing the finger at people saying "You are a horrible person for doing this", its a very crappy judgement in my opinion.

It's not like I even disagree that Dilithium is easy to get.

I topped out Tier 5 New Romulus last week so you get like 35K ore just for running that stupid "your BOFFS need enviro suits" mission. I had about a 20K backlog of ore before that through normal play.

I haven't even run a mission all week. I just log in, DOFF, and log out. Still have over a 30K backlog of unrefined ore. And I'm not even doing that contraband turn in assignment for 2K a day (though you can actually do it every 4 hours, every day is much more realistic).

It's impossible to play with any purpose and not cap 8K in a day.

I just disagree with ninja patching. Or the idea that any sane human being would want to participate in a 1 v 1 match to 15 points.

I think we have more important matters to discuss. Let's forget this thread exists.

The change was actually on Tribble, but since the update was being done to resolve an exploit, it was purposely withheld from the patch notes until maintenance was already in progress. I'm sure you can understand the reason why

And now that we've explained the why, the purpose of the thread has now expired.
