I've been lurking around getting people's thoughts and there seems to be quite a split between folks that prefer to either play as or have sci/sci on their team and those that prefer sci/scorts. I've played both and find that since the reputation system took hold, sci/sci has been a lot less fun to play. All of my "over time" abilities get lost to the silly placate.
What kind of ships do you prefer to use as a sci? What sci/ship class do you get excited to see on your team?
It's apples and oranges really. It's definitely a pain (and frankly ridiculous) that you can break a tractor with the placate, but moving to an escort isn't much of an improvement since you require a forward arc (that's now constantly being lost) to do damage.
I'm always excited to have a Sci on my team no matter what they choose, since they can do two of three things well (damage, CC or team healing) and min-max one of those to do very well.
Basically 1v1 sciscort, team sci/sci, I would say go as much healing as you can in a sci/sci and make control slightly more important then damage and if you must use tractor beams use them on the escorts in your team so you don't waist sci slots on a healer with max aux to stuff like tractors, even if the escorts skill tree dosen't have points in tractors I would still do it.
I'd personally want another Sci/Sci to along with my Sci/Sci instead of a Sci/Escort anyday.
Why? Thanks to the Vesta/Besta, you can pump out some pretty impressive damage with the Aux DHCs. And you can guarantee whomever you're up against is going to have a bad time if they're against one Sci ship, let alone 2.
Devs would like a concise list of things that are broken and not working currently, so here's a short list for PvP: Neutronic Torpedoes, Ionic Turbulence, Surgical Strikes (including Faeht firing through cloak), PartGen stacking and CrtH being boosted to absurd levels.
