I think Cryptic is happy with how it is.

I would be happy if we could at least refine 10-12k.

Yep. Now let's hope they don't make it so we don't use alt characters and manipulation of the exchange to get around the 8k limit.

Okay, so here's what you do:

1. Keep the basic refine cap at 8000.
2. Allow players to refine more than 8000, but...
3. Any dilithium refined over 8000 yields 1 refined for every 2 raw dilithium you have.

So, let's say you have 108,000 raw dilithium. You refine your daily 8000 at maximum efficiency. Say you refine the remaining 100,000: you only gain 50,000 refined extra dilithium and the rest is lost as waste product. You wind up with 58,000 refined dilithium.

The refining cap gets the increase a lot of people want, but they'll have to really stop and think about whether they want to waste half their extra raw dilithium to refine the remaining half.

Discuss.

How do you guys even hit 8K limit? When ever I get near it or hit... I am normally pretty tired of the game and looking to do something else or I go to bed.

Obviously I am on the other spectrum as you guys as my sig suggests. It's a complete waste of time to covert DL to zen vs outright buying it. I do not buy zen to covert to DL. All DL in game that I use purchase stuff is earned so I don't need a whole lot of DL.

The cap is there for a lot of very important reasons. With the way people exploit things around here (foundry) to get marks/Dilithium and then freak out, the cap is an extra layer of control ensure the DL economy doesn't get out of control. An over abundance of DL would mean one zen would cost 300 to 500 DL like in the old days
1hr of work @NYS Min Wage 7.25 = 725 Zen
725 x 102 (or current exchange rate) DL = 73950 DL <- can you earn that per hour in game?

Dilithium refining cap is already fair and even generous by F2P game standards. If you've got an excess of dil ore, then either switch to a different character to earn dil there, or just rest content in the knowledge that apparently you're really enjoying your game.

That said, the dilithium mining claims should be account-bound rather than character-bound. Not really sure why they thought that was a good idea.

So either directly screw over the playerbase with an arbitrary cap whose sole purpose is encourage cash shop transactions...

or

Indirectly screw over the playerbase with an arbitrary system that devalues a currency reward that players already worked for?

Methinks you need to go to Plan C.

At least the indirect screwing may make some of the playerbase happier than they already are?

Sounds like the same system for lottery winners.

...or a refinement tax.
