So much has to be done before the cap can be increased. The skill tree has to be revamped, expanded, and/or rebalanced; a new ship tier may have to be added, which means new ships to fill it; Mk XII would presumably no longer be the top-end, so a new batch of gear would be needed; BOFFs would potentially have to be rethought; the concept of "space away teams" enters the fray bringing with it unknowable design challenges; the goal posts for what "endgame" means would be moved down the field, which probably means a new set of STFs eventually...

Next to that supposed third faction, this would probably be the single most fundamental gameplay change STO has ever seen. Or at least it should be, if it's done properly. Adding ten new levels onto the existing structure with no other changes would make no sense.

It's not something that should be done quickly, taken lightly, or underestimated. Frankly, I think we have bigger fish to fry right now and even after those fish have been fried and eaten, the more time the devs take to hash this Admiralty situation out, the better.

Most MMO players I know IRL hate level cap increases and it's almost always when they choose to quit MMOs.

I can't tell you how many conversations I've had with people who said, "I just want to play a game that never increases the cap, ever, and focuses entirely on lateral progression."

As for me? I always liked level cap increases in other games but mainly because it allowed me to solo more obsolete group content. And since STO's content all levels with you or re-levels you to match it, that sales pitch is out for me.

glad level cap remains.

rather see content additions rather than grind additions.

the cap can stay 50 forever

It couldn't be fleet related as not everyone is in a fleet.

yeah they don't need to raise the cap. I hate already we go to vice admiral. Captain should be enough. They should put more time into adding additional content that scales for all levels and also more clothes/ship and things for everyone, but especially on the KDF side.

I also quit a few mmos because they raised their cap.

You won't see a cap increase because that would mean they'd have to make T6 ships available for the players and would have to at least offer some of them for free. With all the pay-to-win ships in the Z-store and the Fleet Ships, there is no way they are going to open up another 10 levels and another ship tier for the players.

Honestly I would much rather see them dedicate one entire update to end game content. The game is so boring now it isn't even funny. I'd much rather see another 10 or so Borg/Undine story missions available then all this New Romulus hoopla.
