My apolgies, my replicator responded with "make it yourself" to all my orders and my aide is sick so I was unable to get anything resembling a cup of coffee before this meeting...or fix the replicator in time.
Strangely enought without it, I tend to forget formalities at the most inopportune times.
I think this is mostly due to the fact that whenever I am in the trenches fighting the Klingons in Eta Eridani I have neither coffee nor a need for formality.
I am Vice Admiral Maxwell Wardow and delighted to be here.
My apologies for interrupting, but I my aid mentioned this meeting an I couldn't help but witness it. Vice Admiral Robert Starbuck, U.S.S. Pendragon.
If I may follow up what Admiral Maxwell was saying, I think the abilities of the Ambassador Class design shouldn't be underestimated. She offeres a versitility that is rarely seen in Starfleet's more recent militaristic approach to starship design. While I will not claim that she will match the raw firepower of the more tactically oriented ship such as the Regent class, or the shear durability of the Galaxy and Odyssey class, she has the ability to perform both offensive, defensive and utilitarian operations with equal ease.
I know that a few of my fellow Admirals (not calling out anyone in particular) favor superior firepower as a means to defeating the Borg. But firepower will only get us so far. The key to victory is knowing your enemy and exploiting their weakness. To do that effectively, we must fall back on those scientific abilities that have been shunned in this day and age.
A ship that can react to the changing situation if far more valuable than a ship that only knows how to operate one way.

Ah okay, so you do not have training in Miracle Worker or Rotate Shield Frequencies.
It still depends on what kind of role you want your cruiser to fulfill. If you're looking for the traditional Tanker/Healer role, then devote more Engineering BOFF seats towards defensive abilities. On the other hand, if you are looking for a little more punch, Fire on My Mark and Attack Pattern Alpha should help with spike damage in the "spike damage window", and in terms of the pressure damage, EPtS and DEM are recommended (the former could be worked around using a copy of Aux2Bat).

*swears at engineering crew that was supposed to fix door*
*forces door open and pauses, finds a seat, and sits down, removing MACO Operations helmet in the process*
Bloody engi... *mutters some profanity that is later struck from the record* Admiral Evance of the USS Noble Intent (Odyssey-Class Tactical Cruiser), however my flag currently resides on the USS Devastator (Imperial-class Fleet Assault Cruiser Refit). My apologies for my tardiness and the rather... bungled arrival. My task force was engaged just outside the Bajor system by a rather large and angry Terran Empire assault fleet while on route to Sol. They may have delayed my arrival, but they will not be bothering our shipping lanes or supply lines again.
You'll also have to forgive my appearance, I would be in uniform, but we were boarded and I had to assist with evicting the intruders from my ship, and my first officer insisted I use my full combat gear.
However, now that I am here, I would like to welcome Admiral Lee to the admiralty, and I would also like to compliment him on his already impressive array of Starships and his stellar service record. But I feel I must ask. Why have you retained command of your earlier ships? Regardless of how well they have served you, I think it would be better if they were returned to SCE for refurbishing and refitting and then redistributed among the newer Captains in Starfleet. I am mostly referring to the USS Traveler, USS Endymion, and USS Queen Serenity. After all, we are at war, and every ship not on the front lines is a ship that should be.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
Funny you should mention the USS Traveler and USS Endymion, Admiral Evance.. I was considering that possibility with those ships. as far as the USS Queen Serenity is concerned, it will be decommissioned shortly before the NCC-93729-B is ready to be commissioned..the new USS Queen Serenity will be an Odyssey-Class Tactical Cruiser..at present it is 80% complete.
Not to argue, but another alternative would be to have the Queen Serenity placed in drydock for a while, and have it upgraded to fleet standards. I've heard the extensive refurbishment procedure yields a high quality Cruiser vessel.
I have other contacts with other captains in Starfleet, and two of them (who are most comfortable with Galaxy-class starships) recommend this ship for its durability and fleet support abilities.
Also, some captains like myself have kept the older ships as mobile supply ships. You can keep your unused equipment on those ships.
*pushes upon the door and slides in, meanders around a bit before finding a seat.*
"Surveyor Kwawrts here, Captain of the Regent class star ship U.S.S. Oceanic.
I'm an Engineer by trade and am interested in cruisers, and the theory of them...
Amongst other duties, I often patrol regions and offer aid to others."
If I can be of service, please let me know."
*another brief pause*
"As I overheard, Is the new Odyssey going to be the topic of discussion? Also,
to which role are you going after?"
