If a player buys the STO LTS, they recieve some goodies for Neverwinter et al.
Hehehe, well I certainly wouldn't argue with that.

Dan the man did say vets were going to be getting new benefits soon.... coincidence?
Man is a gaming animal. He must always be trying to get the better in something or other.

Also, if you read the blog, it's not just STO, but all PWE games (sans 2 due to technical difficulties, see my post above): http://www.perfectworld.com/news/?p=839091

Cross-promotion happens all the time within publishing studios, Captains. This isn't a new concept If NW doesn't interest you, that's okay! But if it does, and you're interested in becoming a Founder, that's okay too!

They were referencing Tabula Rasa. Richard Garriott went on a trip to space which is something that most of us want to do. When he got back, there was a message on the Tabula Rasa webpage stating that due to his experience in space, he will be going on to other things and close Tabula Rasa down in a few months. A few months later, we get a response saying that it is an underhanded Corporate trick by NCSoft and Richard Garriott never made that message. Giving access to AI ON Beta (name is being censored for some reason) and the first month of **** when it launched was supposed to be compensation for when it closed. I played **** Beta and still have the Collector's Edition activation key for it. Problem was that the forced PvP was too annoying.

Well I certainly hope it is a couple items for Neverwinter.
I mean, a "perk" of the LTS was the Neverwinter Beta access, but they GAVE AWAY THOUSANDS of these Beta keys.
Where's the perk? the perk was i didn't have to hit up one of the dozens of free giveaways?

here is a "perk" for my $300:
Neverwinter bonus items:
1 Neverwinter Star Kit
1 Special Mount that looks like this
This is not as good as it used to be...

I think there is some sort of conceptual error that people can't seem to wrap their heads around that not every product made for a game is made specifically for people that have been in this game from the beginning or that every single item is a "must have" item.

We've seen this before with almost every other cross-game promotion. This is a starter pack. It's a perk for Neverwinter Founders to take a look into PWE's other games. And believe it or not, there are people who may not have heard of STO or have had any real motive to check out STO, but they're real excited about Neverwinter to get their D&D whatever thing going on, excited enough about Neverwinter to shell out for the big Founder's pack (one of my ex-WoW guildmates just did this in fact*) and this helps promote STO and all of PWE's other games to them.

Not you. You're already here. You've probably played this game enough to not need or even make be able to make use of these items on any of your STO toons anyway. These are for people starting new with STO (or any of those other games), and this promotion helps bring attention to the game for those that may not have come here otherwise.

To recap: Neverwinter Founder program perks are not "incentives" for STO players to buy NW Founder packages. They are "perks" for people that buy NW Founder packages (presumably b/c they like NW) to take a look at PWE's other games too. Don't buy a Founder's package because you want the little Cracker Jack prize that goes to an entirely different game, buy a Founder's package because you like the game that it's for. The little Cracker Jack prize is just that... an extra perk. These starter items, you don't need (especially as a STO player dedicated enough to be reading/posting on forums) but they're nice little trinkets for those that might want to try it out. Don't get all mad b/c someone else is getting a little trinket that you know matters not in the long run.

*my ex-WoW friend also mentioned that he had never heard of games like Battle/War of the Immortals and being a MOBA fan, this promotion has gotten him to check it out.

The rewards here for the HoTN package are bad anyway.. so why worry.. its free

Really its a free bonus if you happen to play both games..

Mass Effect 3 had Dragon Age armor for example...

Reckoning had ME armor as well... this isn't unheard of
I'll stop kicking that horse when the bugs fixed. Until then as a paying consumer, I will voice my opinion.

Yeah, cross promotion isn't a bad thing, the rewards aren't particularly special anyway. If it was a unique mission, now that would be cause for a riot.

....and why do you think I'm no longer looking forward to Blade and Soul?

So inhumane superweapons, mass murder, and canon nonsense is okay, but speedos are too much for some people.

City of Heroes did it for me. The game was getting really good and they let everyone go without any warning. At least Tabula Rasa had some compensation and their devs was allowed to work on the game till the end. Was some very interesting loot released to the public that would never exist in any other MMO if they end was not known.

Wildstar has to be very good for me to go back.
