You can get 20 Aux DHCs even if you only buy one ship, just dismiss and reclaim it to get as many as you want (you can only do the dismiss and reclaim thing with C-store ships, but with them you can always do it). Still worth getting the pack for the consoles, particularly since just getting a second one later would pay for the pack.

I've parked my Vesta's and now am running a much tankier feeling Nebula refit. The Vesta always feels squishy.

Bought the whole pack. love the destiny trilogy and wanted the ship. Now please understand I'm almost a 3 year vet, and I have 27 toons 26 at VA. I am not a noob, having said that I am so so disappointed in the vesta I could weep. I have speced and respect armord to the nines and id still rather use a nebula refit or intrepid refit.

Why they made such a beautiful ship With such cool gadgets so squishy is beyond me. Id gladly give a few deg. of turn rate or do with out aux cannon if they would increase power and hull strength. It is so so sad that a ship I so looked forward to owning. dose not even have one item I can take off it, and use on another ship.

oh well back to the flying shoe or the sci oddy.

Well, if you're going to Atrox or Ody you're definitely looking for something different than the Vesta, or any of the more standard sci ships (clearly evidenced by the fact that you're so concerned about armor, which buys a sci ship with its low hull maybe 5 seconds of extra life). For a sci ship it has about average durability, the hull is standard and the shield modifier is slightly high, it doesn't have the eng slots of a Nebula so it is less durable than that, but you can run Lt+Ens eng without sacrificing sci, and with Aux DHCs you wind up significantly tougher than a Patrol Escort. It's certainly not a real tank, but it's decently durable and has hugely boosted offense, which is the main point.

Thanks for all the advice!

I picked up the tactical variant. I didn't want the whole Vesta pack since I'm probably also going to get a ship for my Klingon (and maybe even Romulan).

Anyways, the Vesta is pretty darned fun. I spent a good chunk of time with it yesterday. With the 3 aux cannons I'm putting out respectable weapon damage during the very long science ability cooldowns. I noticed fleet actions and STFs taking considerably less time. And I don't have to worry about switching back and forth between weapon power and aux power every 30 seconds.

Heh, the aux cannons were the single least useful feature of the Vesta, for me, but I've been running my sci ships will near maxed weapons and aux power for so long it doesn't matter to me.

The rest of your weapons still need weapon power, so unless you are sticking torps and mines on the back you are losing damage on your other weapons.

When you fire aux cannons your aux power drops, eating from your sci abilities. Granted, this is a small amount, but it is non-trivial.

I found it better to use real cannons with better stats and just run high wep and aux, because with aux cannons I was still running high wep and aux anyway, I got to use better cannons, and they didn't eat my aux power to fire.

It was kinda nifty splitting the drain between the 2 subsystems, but not enough to really be worth doing.

Edit: Not to mention using aux cannons precludes you being able to pop an aux2bat for cooldown reduction when your sci abilities are cooling down... Tho I don't run that way on my Vesta anymore.
I once again match my character. Behold the power of PINK!
