I blow up all the time in this ship..i really like it..but it is even viable in Pvp...saw some people say its is..most say its not...would be great but I am thinking I will only be able to pve with it. Please discuss and offer builds for my sci guy.

Thanks in advance.

I'm still resisting the urge to buy a fleet Nova, but I know that I'll eventually give in. I'll either try to make it based around strong alpha-strike (not likely) or a disabling or debuff build. There is some good background here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/sh...d.php?t=569071

Sadly anything this ship can do the vesta or wells can do better.

? Without any p2w consoles they are still the better ships, more shields better layouts....

I love the look of the nova too but sadly it just doesn't have place in pvp compaired to those 2 ships

as far as im concerned there are 4 sci ships. the nova, ballship, wells, and vesta. MAYBE nebula, theres 1 station setup the wells cant do that it can, 2 LT tacs. not sure were that would be particularly useful though. the vetsa can do everything the intrepid, recon, and deep space can and more, but it cant mimic exactly what the nova and ball ship can. the wells can have a different set of options too.

for a vesta to have the LTC tac, it also has to have an LT tac. the nova gets to have an LT sci instead, which is probably more useful. unless your a tac captain using DHCs in the vesta.

Okay, tell us what you have NOW, and we'll go from there.

You have a Science captain, so that's a good start. What weapons are you using? Consoles? Equipment/set items if any? Your current BOff layout will help as well.

I will tell you I fly a Research ship (Horizon) and I can kick ass in PvP. The Nova isn't that much different and can do the same, it just takes the right build and mindset.

Hi there, i`m flying fleet Nova in pvp alot, and i enjoy it! Here is my built: http://skillplanner.stoacademy.com/?build=flsvr_0. As u can see its a cheese built with temporal inversion field and also with very wierd selection of lt cmdr tac skills, but thats how I fly it and not thinking of doing any changes of it.

PSW3 with purple doff and tbr2 will help u with spaming control. I also have boff in combination; FBP3 TB3, in that case this ship is escort kille which doen`t care about shields, also i have 1 boff with VM3 + TB3 but i don`t use that one very often. I highly recomend (don`t know if i`ve spelled that word right?) PSW3 `n` TBR combination if your planning fight against KDF.

There`s lot of fun stuff u can do with this ship, all u need to do is experiment with builts and find 1 or couple that suits you and your play style, there is no any restricted builds for any of ships in this game IMO. GL and i hope u will find yours.

Edit: Sry i forgot to include skill tree, but i`m not in the game atm so i don`t know how exactly is specced.

I've been looking at the Fleet Ball Retrofit ever since Geko said it was his least favorite ship.

Vs. Fleet Nova Retro

+660 Hull
+300 Crew
LCdr Eng/Lt Tac instead of LCdr Tac/Lt Eng
-1 Tac Console/+1 Eng Console
-2 Turn
-20 Inertia

For the life of me though, I can't ever remember seeing one in PvP. Then again, I can't remember ever seeing a Fleet Nova either. I've seen a D'Kyr more than I've seen a Nebula. It's usually a Vesta or a Wells... though I still see a rare Intrepid.

edit: Of course, with the LoR announcement - not sure I'm going to be doing anything on any of my guys.

The Fleet Recon Science Vessel's edge in turn rate is still one of those quality of life things that's nice to have over the Vesta. Excepting the Nebula, though, there's not really a fleet science ship with a turn rate less than or equal to the Vesta's that is worth using over the Vesta.

The Nova has a higher turn rate and shield mod (added when they updated a bunch of the squishier Fleet ships stats) over the Vesta for a less flexible boff layout and about 400 less base hull hp. It's a great little ship, and probably the perfect Sci Ship for anyone wanting a Sci ship with the turn rate of the Wells without laying out the EC/cash for one.
If you feel Keel'el's effect is well designed, please, for your own safety, be very careful around shallow pools of water.
