What I'm saying is - Cryptic has a new landlord and regardless of what individuals think of PWE, the truth is that they helped and invested in the Cryptic team. The game is obviosely doing very good according to what many devs. have stated and also by having a big expansion with a whole new faction added. Their staff has grown double in numbers.
This is what makes me believe that it is possible for them to keep their word and deliver this time.

P.S. This is actually the first time we have visualy seen a confirmation that the KDF will start at lvl 1. I don't think that's something they'd do if there was the possibility to walk away from it. Also, the lack of leveling content was pointed out as the main reason for the KDF to start at lvl 20 on many ocassions by the devs. It would be reasonable to conclude that since they decided to give the opportunity to the KDF to start at the begining, they'll give the content that was missing.
STO has been around for 3 years now. I really don't think the devs. are just making the KDF start at lvl 1 without any content after what they stated before. I can't see them saying "Well whataya know, us wuz joking before!"
It makes sense. While I have been overly critical of Cryptic for their total lack of anything developed for KDF in so long. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and holding off any negative opinions until I see what they have done for the expansions.

Being able to start any faction at level 1 and being able to choose what faction you can start with and the reasons you mentioned above has made me decided upon this coarse of action.

I'm just waiting till May. As I see it every promise made to the Federation side has been fulfilled. Ambassador, Vesta, Andorian escort etc. Perhaps now they are finally going to complete the promises they made to the KDF as well as giving the Romulans their own piece of the action.

May isn't that far away, less than two months now. I think we all have at the very least hold out negative comments until we see what we get or don't get. Anyone can see some of my older posts form 6 months ago, I was really annoyed with the lack of development and if I can bite my tongue I think any negative person can until the expansion is released.

I am hoping they'll improve the server space and stability of the servers for this expansion too.

Well, I only recently came back to STO with a new account now.

Have a Federation Commander and a Klingon Captain (well he's a Gorn actually).
While I enjoy KDF more at the moment, I doubt I'll start a new Klingon now.

I do hope that I will be able to play the new low level Klingon content with my Gorn Captain as well though.

The ideal situation will be that there is new mission content for Romulans from level 1 to 50, new mission content for Klingons from 1 to 20, but I won't be surprised if mission content for Romulans and Klingons from 1 to 20 is the same and after that more or less the same for all three factions, just as it is now.

If the latter is the case, will I be dissapointed? No, there will be still enough to enjoy with all the new stuff.

BTW starting a Klingon character at level 1 is nice, but for me, a player with a couple of level 50 characters, playing with a character with limited capabilities, a ship with for and aft beam bank and a torpedo is just not interesting. On a side note. Playing at low levels the game isn't easy. I just point to the threads were people complain that the Romulan Warbird is to strong. I myself have been killed by Warbirds and Mogais as lieutenant and commander. I replay those missions often for ship equipment and I roll over them now.

Hopefully we get level 1-20 storyline content that matters in relation to STO. Even if the player gains a level to a level and a half a mission, I would be happy if it completes us.

# 45 Klingon Starter Level

<tosses his two bits into the pot>

It does seem they're going to allow base level starts for the Klingon faction. Having xp'd KDF from low level, I'm not sure that's such a good idea unless more content is made available. In any event, I don't believe it will have a significant impact on KDF population numbers. Most STO players simply prefer to play Starfleet as that's what the shows emphasized. In fact, the arrival of the Romulan faction is likely to offset any gains the KDF may experience. Really, aside from pvp, which is c**ptastic in sto anyway, the only serious flaw with the KDF is the low volume of faction specific content. I can't see that changing anytime soon as a company has to give emphasis to its primary customer base and that just isn't going to be the KDF.

From there, will there be any content filling the gaps? Who knows, I hope there will or it will go against the reason of why KDF was condensed in the first place to avoid spread leveling content and grind.

That is aside from a new UI that seem more Klingon-esque and less eye bleeding looking...

Without details on how Cryptic plans on plugging that content gap, I'm not impressed.
I remember those days with loathing! It cost Cryptic two paying customers when my Trek loving friends were repulsed by the botched KDF roll out and horrible, mind numbing, grind it entailed back then. From my perspective, newer KDF players have nothing to complain about in comparison. Of course, that's like saying getting hit by a car isn't as painful as getting hit by a bus...

Only speculative, but they may have slide what we know of Klingon specific content down after the tutorial and then move on to more common content between faction. After all, it's a rather general recipe in MMOs of this type to walk the toon through faction based missions around your hub then release you to the World with issues common to all.

I would still love to see more 'KDF point of view' to some of these common missions. To joke, have a reason why a klingon warrior would run after epohhs for tagging?

When the game launched we did have KDF start at lvl 1. It was painful but it was there for a while.

Level 6 actually. To play the KDF faction, you had to get a Fed to level 6.

Well... I guess there Klingons have their own version of a Turducken and you have to start somewhere?

My biggest worry right now about KDF content for the May expansion, is what new themed character should I make to start at level 1? I already have a Klingon female Tactical character flying a B'Rel and an Orion female Engineer flying a Marauder Patrol Cruiser. What to do next...? Hmmmm.
