you can be either a KDF romulan or a fed romulan. That answers it.

I just thought...why should Klingons or Feds be able to fly Romulan ships via lockbox ? Feds can't fly Klingon ships. Klingons can't fly Fed ships. Both shouldn't be able to fly Romulan ships. I also object to the idea that Romulans can fly around in Klingon and Fed ships, sorry.

Not to say that I'm not still excited though.

BOOO! I want to be part of the Empire! Or the Tal'Shiar! Why not create a story line that actually innovates, and allows us to choose which Romulan faction we want to join?

Liberated Borg are a must! They clearly exist, and even though the most prominent one was a Tal'Shiar agent, they're not all like that.....

And what about Hirogen? They're allied with Sela, why not them?

WORST. DECISION. EVER. The Romulans need to be THEIR OWN FACTION! I get that you're railroading us into the Republic already, but why make us choose sides in the Fed / KDF war? Don't the Romulans just want to live in peace (or make war) on their own?

The Romulans are worthy of their own faction. It may be too much work now to create 3-way PvP, or to create unique assets for Romulan bases, but that's what people want!

And isn't this going to cause issues within the faction? How can the Romulans be allied with the Feds or KDF, and still be cool with each other?

..except for the fact that the Romulans aren't actually a faction, since they join the Feds and KDF anyways. Will it be the same for the Dominion? Even though they have their own quadrant, and clearly would have their own agenda, will they be shoe-horned into the great big Fed / KDF war?

What I asked was not about the variants of ship, it was about COSTUMES, not cruiser / escort / science. Will all the ships have three COSTUME variants? Like nearly all of the Fed / KDF ships? (except for Odyssey, Chimera, Bortasqu', etc. - and why don't they have costume variants?)

Why is the crystalline entity limited time?

really disappointed by this. Not only do we have to play romulans as soft and fluffy Vulcans, we cant even cause chaos in 3-way fights.

Where's the STAR TREK man?

Disappointing we can't be apart of the Tal Shiar and we have to choose to side with the KDF or Feds. Would have been nice to be able to remain neutral at least.

But May update is pretty awesome overall.

3-ways fights could bring the pvp into the light

Q: (lan451) Getting queues to pop over on the KDF side can be difficult sometimes due to the lack of players. Recent queues have been cross faction to help with this. With the advent of the Romulan faction, can we expect new queue events to be cross faction?

Dstahl: While Romulan Republic captains are their own faction, they can group with allies in the Federation or Klingon Empire, thus providing more captains for all queues. With the addition of new events in Legacy of Romulus there will be more options for players of all factions and more players available to group for events in all factions.

One important note is that allied factions will be able to "cross-faction-team" each other?s episodes. For example, Klingon captains will be able to team up with Romulan Republic allies to fight in Romulan episodes and likewise, Romulan Republic allies may team up with their Klingon allies for Klingon episodes. These episodes will not appear in your faction?s journal, so you will not receive the faction specific personal reward for the episode, but you will receive open mission rewards such as skillpoints and energy credits if you join with a captain who does have the mission in their journal and enter the mission with them.
Nice! Thanks for taking the time to answer that one for me. That was one I was really hoping to see answered.

I find the whole implementation of the New Romulans to be very interesting. From what I've read here I'm liking it so far. I'm really looking forward to this now. Now I'll just wait for more info on what the plan is to help smaller fleets with their bases.

Unlikely, if someone doesn't like PvP, increasing the number of sides won't change that.
