# 1 New ideas compilation:
04-01-2013, 04:34 PM
I have many ideas for many areas of the game...

Crafting: Dilithium needs to be taken out of the equasion in favor of rare boss drops or mission completion rewards. Players must be able to craft more items and sets unique to crafting. Crafting trees should be class specific so that Tacs can create items like grenades and science officers can make unique healing items, etx.

Item sets: New, ground item sets that include kits to point a player in a more role oriented direction need to be introduced. The should come in a variety of Marks.

Pvp: We need many more pvp games. Otha needs to be remastered into a PVP adventure zone that rivels New Romulus in scale and diversity. An Otha revamp could also be considered a form of territory control since the faction with the strongest presence will be able to do missions more safely. DOTA style pvp missions/battlegrounds would be fun and allow casual players to pvp in a more controled scenario. We must have larger scale pvp games with higher player capacity to rivel other MMO games.

End game: We need one. STF missions do not count anymore. I miss the orignial STF missions. I miss being challenged by the game.

PVE: Bosses should have unique item drops to encourage players to keep comming back. Each episode chain should have an STF like mission added to the Q(unlocked by completeing the mission chain) where you confront the boss in a story driven battle.
PVE starbases will make exellent boss fights. Say a space boss is an assimilated Federation base with multiple phases and targets.
Fail mechanics, we need more of them. You can not expect a community to grow in skill if they are allowed to zerg everything.

Social zones: Burned.

I agree with all of this except social zones need to stay for role players

Mostly bad ideas.

The only good idea in that whole bunch of nonsense is that the dilithium in the crafting system is bad. It should be taken out.

While you want new kits, there are already a lot of kits in game. I'm not sure what you mean, so I'm not saying that is good or bad.

Otherwise, those ideas belong in the garbage bin.
Again, you seem to want a game too hard for the majority.

You should really play a game like Skyrim, and set it to the highest challange setting. That may entertain you.

Oh really? I wish trolls would stay off my threads. Those causall Cassie players who are terrified at the idea of team play or challenging content that requires skill are going to cause this game to be forgotten by real gamers. Real gamers are the life blood of this game and its only hope for a long run. The Star Trek fan base alone is not enough to sustain this mmo.

Its spelled casual. Your ideas are as bad as your spelling.

I just do not want a game that is like how WoW used to be, a grinding nightmare that requires you to fight a 6 hour raid just to get one good item.

But I guess I do not live up to your high ideals.
Some people may have other things to do in life than just grind and grind one game endlessly. Maybe they got a job, or they are sick.
They may even want to be able to play a game for the little free time you got.
The 15 minute STFs are a great end game content that lets people who have other things to do too still play the game.

But don't believe me, I'm obviously not "leet" enough for you. But if you think the players wanted more grind, would they have complained about it so much on these forums?

Trust me. You obviously have no mmo experience, without a strong end game or pvp and more challenge this game will be laughed off the web as a grind fest with no merrit. There are A LOT of new, very modern mmo games on the rise and this game will get sunk in the flood. This game must generate money for CBS to allow it to exist. If it someday stops attracting new players CBS will pull the plug. I am a Star Trek fan and a REAL gamer. The gaming industry is a race that never ends, but if you fall too far behind the crowd you are forgotten. Casual gamers should stick to their phones.
Please leave my thread in peace. Your opinion dose not matter to me nor is it welcome. Ultimatly, I hope for the Devs to read this.

Hmm real gamers you say?

Just what is a real gamer? Is that kind of like being a real driver? Or movie watcher? Or book reader? I would likely find your definition very amusing but in reality the real game is the one who plays...games. Hence everyone who has a STO account is a real gamer.

As for the life blood of the game and it's only hope? HA! Casuals are where the money is. You continue to forget the simple detail in each and every 'attack the casuals' post you make' that STO exists to make money. You do not make money by intentionally irritating the majority of your fan base. That is why PvP imbalances are not fixed unless they effect PvE or are just truly not working as designed. They will never, ever, cater to the hardcore audience. That is EVE's gig and I must say it is an amazing game that gives you a real rush every time you play it.

In addition let us look at two possibly related things taking place in the game. The game gets a little bit easier every season and the playerbase is still growing. Wonder if those two details are related in any way, probably not.

Really? So this game has been around with minimal development for the first two years and a third year (or is it the fourth?) and with F2P is now the no 1 Perfect World game in the west, doing better than even the Champions Online you continually think they should emulate btw, yet they will be laughed off the web and sunk in the flood?

How much money are you willing to put down for that bet?
STO has a diverse group of players with a wide range of expectations and playstyles. To that end the STO team should endeavor to create a variety of content with a diverse set of difficulty levels and challenges. Cake for everyone!

Your input is not welcome here unless it is in regards to the initial post. I am not going to debate with you people.

Did you hear about something called exploiting a niche of customers?

You are totally right. I don't like those super hard mmo games, and I will never play them. So are a lot of people I know. But I have been playing STO since it launched, and Cryptic managed to get money out of me that no "hardcore super elite" mmo you like would have ever gotten out of me.

Cryptic are exploiting a group of people who do not want some super flash super hard game.
Not everyone just likes to jump from MMO to MMO .

However it never occurs to you that not everybody thinks like you.
This may be a nasty surprise, but the world does not revolve around you and your tastes.

Some time ago a casual and odd looking game got released.
It was called Borderlands, and few people thought it would be the success it is today. Once again, it was proven that not everybody likes the same things.

No matter how much you want to dictate people's lives and tastes, you don't have the right to do that.

What would give you the authority to decide for them what and how should they play? Your click per second skills are slightly better, so you can tell other customers to go play on their phones because they are not good enough for you?

Maybe you should admit that Cryptic/PWE knows better then you do, and let them make the better decisions based on their research and their marketing statistics.

It would be a big scene if they went and told a part of their playerbase to just hit the door and play on phones.
