I love it. I think it is a great way to add variety to what will be a popular faction and I am excited to be part of the story as it plays out!
"I" would imply that he is stating only his opinion... which is inaccurate. Since I, and many other in these forums do not wish there to be any ship sharing, "we" is an appropriate pronoun.

Warp cores are for everyone, not just Romulans, they happen to use different ones though.

Where does it say that the Romulan characters must fly ships from their chosen allies? Remember what Dan said in the interview, Romulans will have a trait (Subterfuge) that will give a buff to them while flying a ship that can cloak, since we know that Romulan ships cloak, it's clearly conceivable that many players who have a Romulan character would choose to stick with their Romulan ships. You just have access to the ships from your allies, it's your CHOICE if you want to use them or even if you don't want to use them. How difficult is it to understand that?

Using Fed/KDF equipment, consoles, DOffs, even BOffs, I can live with.

I draw the line at ships though. Romulans should NOT get access to Fed/KDF ships.

From a balancing point of view, surely between lockbox and unique Romulan ships, this shouldnt be needed.

From an IP point of view, I seriously doubt a Romulan refugee would be given command of an Odyssey - in this games story, the brand new flagship of the fleet. Using Dan's own example (Kira commanding the Defiant) either Roms ARENT their own faction, but a single planet of former refugees like the Bajorans, or they ARE a major faction, and then a better example would be General Martok commanding the Defiant. Just wouldn't happen, even between wartime allies.

From a profit point of view, you will make more money from selling Rom C-Store ships. Yes a Vesta can't cloak, but then neither can half the KDF ships like the KarFi or Guramba, and they still work fine, so an unused cloak based trait won't dissuade people from just using what they have already unlocked, already know, and already have established builds and tactics for.

Please, let the Roms use their own ships. Just... please.

Some missions are the same, while most others are faction specific, with KDF having a nice advantage in this matter (contraband, prisoners, executions, raids etc.).

And now I read that Romulan and Reman doffs are just going to be added to the existing (FED/KDF) doff packs so that Romulan captains "WILL BE ABLE" to use their own doffs (in the same whay you're able to create a fully vulcan/andorian/orion crew atm), but the foundation seems to be the existing FED or KDF mission system. Not really impressed by that.

As for using other factions' ships - I don't mind. I want a plasmonic leech on my d'deridex yes please.

1. Is there a limited set of allied faction gear, or is it all open? (eg low level z-store ships are faction only to prevent consoles not in boxes to cross lines)

2. Is there an extra cost for Romulan toons to obtain the allied gear compared to a toon in that allied faction?

3. Other than traits why would anyone play KDF/Fed after they've run through the storyline missions? Ie, what's the incentive to keep playing/make new Fed/KDF toons? Or is that something you're saving for down the road?
I hope we get an official answer to all of your questions, but from a careful reading of the dev blog, it does say that Romulans get access to their ally's Fleet Ships (capitalization and everything) which gives me the impression that it will only be the ones earned from the fleet shipyard.

This makes sense because now your romulan can get access to the ships unlocked already for members of their fleet. (Though this doesn't seem to work the other way around, since the fleet will be able to make Romulan ships at some future point but not give them to non-romulan captains. I like that)

So to answer number 2 my guess would be no since they are buying them through the fleet store like anyone else.

And for 3: What is the endgame difference between a Fed and a KDF right now? Races, a shrinking list of consoles, different ship types (especially if romulans won't get access to c-store ships eg: no rommies in Kumaris), some different doff missions, and different costumes.

So here's my question: can Romulans access off duty uniforms? Is there anyone looking at applying those to Klingons as well?

It seems to me that the Marauding BOffs, which still have bugged costumes, could probably be fixed more easily. We saw Klingons in non-KDF uniforms on the shows, particularly DS9.

The weirdest thing is the tuxedo might be unlocked but that's no more weird than it is on a Caitian and it works fine with Gorn based on bugged costumes I've seen.

We see Romulan NPCs wearing pieces of off duty uniforms and the merc sets. I imagine those sets in general aren't huge sellers but might have a bit more appeal if off duty uniforms were usable for all factions.

On a related note, can Romulans wear:

The Winter Jackets.
Lobi Store costumes. (Ferengi Jacket and Temporal Jumpsuit seem like they should be options. But then there's a question of whether they get 29th century uniforms, either of their ally or their own.)
Fleet uniform unlocks like the Odyssey and the Romulan Embassy unlock?

I could see mixed feelings on the Odyssey in particular. But then Kira was wearing a Starfleet uniform by the end so it doesn't seem totally off to me if it requires Fleet participation.

Personally, I'd say if Fed allied Romulans get the Wells/M?bius, they should probably get the Wells uniform unlock as well. And Klingon allied Romulans should get the Korath uniform. Because, in theory, that's the direction their alliance would lead in the 29th century.

Overall, the near future might be a good time to review BOff customization. Maybe set Marauding/Diplomacy BOs up for a choice of uniforms. Make the Embassy Romulan BOs and Reman FE BO customizable.

And, of course, one thing I've never seen addressed is Liberated Borg Romulans.

Ok, you're right, I'm sorry. I overreacted a bit.

All the same though, the more information that comes out, the less actually unique content we're getting. So far we have ships. That's really it.

Edit- and there's a difference between a non-customisable, unique boff and a real, fully customizable set of boffs from our own factions species. Also, while I don't mind people keeping the boffs they already have I had, perhaps foolishly, hoped they might remove them for future purchase.

Second edit- misread your post slightly the first time, after reading it again I removed some of mine that actually made no sense.

1) As if that trait will actually factor in people's decision making.
2) The "choice" argument goes to absurd ends. Should it be my choice to fly KDF ships in my Fed? Or vice versa. How are you incapable of seeing the need for coherence in what is being called a faction? Why not just go to the logical end of removing all 'fsction' walls. Have everyone flying everything because, y'know, choice.
