Absolute worst.. has to be a Hive Onslaught Elite I joined a couple weeks ago. It took a record 31 minutes to kill the Queen because myself and 2 other player were the aggro-magnets, and we'd EM/DB to get the tribbles out of the engines, heal, then come back. Whew, just thinking of it gives me a headache.

Fleet Excelsior with 1 of EVERY ship injury, most of them maxed out, including ALL criticals: multi-color turrets. Yes, only turrets. EVERY TURRET WAS A DIFFERENT COLOR. The entire rainbow and parts of the rainbow I DIDN'T know were on that ship. Stuck out at 9k rotating CRF1. Got popped I dunno how many times. Never did more than 329 damage on a crit. I checked. Several times. Either troll or failboat.

Lvl.50 Ambassador with 5 minor injuries: 2 energy/3 projectile damage. Fore weapons: Plasma DBB, Phaser DBB, Hargh'Peng, Bio-Neural Warhead; rear weapons: Antiproton turret, Polaron Turret, what looked like the Romulan Experimental Beam Array, and a Transphasic Torpedo. Had quadruple the DPS as the Excelsior idiot, though that's not saying much...

Science Vesta: Rom torp, Cluster Torp, Transphasic Torp + 3 Tetryon turrets and Elite Scorpion fighters. Rotated HY's and CRF1 like mad and kept UM/Queen shields down pretty well. Should've been given a medal for surviving the cruisers core breeching on him several times in a row.

Guramba: 3 Dis DHC's, Rom torp up front, 1 Dis turret in rear + Cluster Torp and Bio-Neural. Extremely competent player, and if you see this: I'm sorry the Queen's tachyon beam wiped your shields and you took an Aceton AoE to the grill when I switched out. :/

Hmm, if that's the case then there may be something wrong with her on normal setting. I've been able to burn her down in a few minutes on elite with pugs. I haven't run a normal mode in forever, I'll run one later on and see if she's busted.

It looks like there will be hours of wait time today while the devs do whatever devs do so I think I'll post one.

I pugged into a Cure Space Normal and typed hello. Everyone else said hello. I fly over to the right and shoot the BOPS. They both die and I start on a node. Two other ships show up and start on the same node. It dies. A Raptor spawns and one of the other ships go chasing it. I don't know where the third ship went.

Now just so you'll know, I'm still running XI phasers. My boat is all phasers, no torps or anything else.

The one ship is shooting away at the Raptor has a combo of rainbows and skittles.

I killed three nodes and the missing ship showed back up and starts helping again. We kill the cube and I look back just to see the rainbow boat STILL trying to kill that same raptor! I didn't see any others spawn so I'm reasonably sure it was the same raptor.

I typed LOL and flew on to the next cube.

The mission went well other than that poor guy with the rainbow-skittle boat.

I just though I'd share that little tidbit.

My biggest issue is cruisers in STFs. They simply take up a spot a perfectly good escort could be. They look pretty, I'll admit. That odyssey sure is appealing to the eyes...much like my ex-girlfriend, beautiful and useless

I'll tolerate them if they throw me a heal here and there but it seldoms happens

Lol don't look down on cruisers like that. Cruisers are very much capable of out damaging the average escorts. Over 10k dps cruisers do exist and they aren't hard to build.

The effectiveness of cruisers really depends on the pilot. My current (and experimental) cruiser build is geared towards tanking and healing, and I do throw heals to teammates when they are in range (10km, and 7.5km for ExtSh).

Other cruiser pilots, like one of my ingame friends, has his Odyssey set up for damage - and can easily out-damage a PVE escort.

And then there are pilots who don't know the difference between cruisers and escorts... and unfortunately, if you're stuck with that guy, there's where your issues start cropping up.

as a BoP pilot, I appreciate having cruisers on the team, so long as they know how to direct their damn fire-see, Klinks in BoPs draw aggro when the cubes wake up because someone tossed a whole lot of unaimed fire around, which makes things very chancy, even MORE chancy when that randomly tossed violence happens to pop the second tier before hte first tier of probes is cleared (I do CSE a LOT).

I appreciate Cruisers for a couple of big-time useful functions:

1. Eject Warp Plasma 3. I love this in Cure, I love it a lot when it's being distributed by a cruiser in the path of various cubespawn, or laid on top of assimilated Negh'vars, because it makes their boarding attempts "Futile". I love it because it stops targets dead in their tracks and makes MY job easier.

2. The occasional heal, which, if things have gone awry (but not yet pear shaped) and we're having to gather to stop the borg from killing the Kang, is VERY nice indeed. It is MUCH easier to keep Borg raptors from killing cruisers if we can all agree that the guys who draw all that fire because they have good DPS need a little cover to keep them doing that good DPS.

In case you're wondering, in Pugland, as a Bird of Prey pilot, I'm often the only "Escort" in a Cure at all-and minus someone being a sport and bringing a Kumari, for some reason when there ARE other 'scorts, I seem to draw-and-keep the 'loving attention' of cube-stacks, even when there are Feds with what should be significantly better firepower hitting them at the same time.

Cruisers are great ships IF they are properly built. There are dozens of posts in the forums about how to build a cruiser.

This one tells how to put together almost all the currently available cruisers. And they work!

Unfortunatly, the number of cruisers being used now vastly overwelm the number of people that read the forums.

you can outdps an avg escort with probably anything the game has to offer

a 10k dps cruiser is a waste of the captain commanding it (tho atleast it is useful to have, and (s)he is having fun)

So we're doing the new event CE, it's all nice and good; spamming the spacebar until the entity starts absorbing energy. And what do people do? Keep shooting at it close range.
