Because some people have more characters, would pretty much be the reason.

I have 5 KDF characters. I have the C-Store B'rel, and would still have bought it if I did have access to a maxed out fleetyard. If I had only one character in a high-level fleet, well, I'd get the fleet version instead.
The increases to defensiveness are basically useless, given the role the BoP plays. Right now, it's basically a covert sniper/harasser. You stay in cloak, and fire off torpedoes (chronitons, plasma, transphasics, anything with a wicked secondary effect), drop mines, and maybe drop aceton assimilators. If you want a ship that'll do hit-and-run decloak ambushes, use the Hegh'ta or a fleet BoP other than the Fleet B'rel. Fleet Hoh'sus with the 4 Tac consoles would be best.

A B'rel that gets fired upon to any great degree is a dead B'rel. You have to be extra careful to avoid detection.

I've heard VERY good things about the Romulan BOFFs that boost cloak.

The romulan Boffs mean you can pretty much stay cloaked at all time seven when firing torps

However some would say this is a bug so I never tried it but as per usual nobody knows whether there working as intended or not all the information cryptic feeds us you know
----=====This is my opinion you don't have to listen and no one else has to read them these "OPINIONS" are based on my exploits and my learning other people will have their opinions and that's fine just don't knock my way of doing things thanks=====----

Wow, i never knew about the romulan Boff. i've been learning so much recently about building the perfect trop boat. Even as i'm harvesting a lot of Lobi from Lockboxes, i was advised to get the Rule 62 module which helps with torp damage.

Would you use just one romulan Boff, or would you deck your entire bridge our with them?

I'm waiting for my embassy to hit tier 3 and get the top of the line boff for it.

the rom boffs truly are good for a brel torp boat.

Until the inevitable nerf. I have a gut feeling they will be.

doubt it. if they do the only way to do it is to reduce the timer reduction bonus of the boff...

...and if they do so they'll be nerfing every defiant captain along with it.

AND.. since we know this game is all about federation.. it will never happen

BUT...

Those same Federation players might start whining a lot about super-cloaked KDF ships, and then through their QQing, cause a nerf to still end up happening because their super-duper de-cloaking abilities aren't good enough.

That said, I'd love to have my Bortas load up with these Romulan BOFFs as well. Make it have a nigh-undectable cloak on that giant-ass ship.

I have some projectile boat setups for them but tbh unless they reinvision how the b'rel works as a torpedo boat its going to be somewhat limited to solo pve gameplay. A lot of times in PvP your opponent hits brace for impact, hazard emitters, polarize hull, etc will negate the effects there so its in most cases 1 skill everyone carries counters an entire build. Which I am not sure Cryptic is going to devote time to such a ship that the minority of the game might consider when it comes to their scheduling time.

I'd like to see possibly a console or even if Cryptic would add some kind of bonuses say if you are enhanced battle cloak mode, ablative armor mode, or in an armitage where using certain skills give some kind of bonus to using torpedo boats that are not defeated just because someone presses one skill where we can have some real tactics that are not defeated by one skill or constant ability to shield tank. In all the b'rel at this point does not impact gameplay enough for any player to use it other than just collecting it... its stayed more to a collectors item than a feasible ship.

Edit: Oh yeah the whining/QQ'ing about super torpedoe firing we've had those clowns for years in this game. Although they say they don't have viable ways against them because skills like tractor beam, sensor scan, charged particle burst, photonic shockwave, emission seeking torpedo, etc they don't decloak ships at all because us KDF players are just making it up (For less than average intelligent people that is what we call in the southern quadrant... SARCASM )

personally i don't mind having the extra engi slot. Engi slots are focused on shield boosting, engi boosts hull. considering how the shield should only be active if something has gone wrong in your attack run, the hull is more vital.

I also have no use for the stealth consoles. I have never seen benefit in them as running full aux is easy, and a full aux cloak stops detection from everything save a sensor-sweep enhanced sci ship. And the disparity is great enough that even specced into stealth and with the consoles, you are still detected within 3-5 km depending on their aux level. This means I would be left with a booster for my grav wells.

An extra tac would of course be the ideal as a torp boat is pretty much all about spike damage, and the more punch the better. But then again that is the same for any ship in existance within the game to any player with even a remote desire to deal damage. So... *shrug* nothing to whine about in any event.

Even just a little more survivability is always a plus. and the shield boost is more helpful than one would think as well. After all no matter how well you fly you will get kicked out of cloak eventually. or locked down. or you'll see dontara's storm of OP plasmas heading your way and have a chance to get shields up. it happens. And every little bit always helps. Especially taking into account the HP boost across all shield facings through popping a tac team.
