I spam Scramble + Isocharge into the crowd, I think I've taken out about 8 of my opponents this way so far.

Honestly, this scoring system is terrible, since it turns the entire exercise into how much you can be a jerk, and is not at all about working as a team. For instance, as a healer, in a proper sensible team environment, who should you heal? Probably the escorts and other guys who have poor healing capability and thus need your heals. Who do you heal in CE? Tank Cruisers, the guys who probably survived your Isocharge shenanigans, who almost certainly have plenty of self-heals...heal them before they can use them.

ive only had 1st once, no second places, a bunch of third places and a pile of none placings. as it is, i dont care about this because the crystal shards are more important for me to get around to buying some of those ships, especially a fed carrier or carrier/escort. best time to get it all in is when the dil market crashes and take a massive bargain before its reset . but when the event is over?

from what i have seen, the fair system seems to reward damage over anything i have seen thus far as long as your ship can tank the damage well with self heals.

plasma torpedo spam has prevailed and during the absorption phases where other players are significantly disadvantaged, torpedo damage goes in and adds score to one team over the rest and that plsama spam really helps. the system as expected is being exploited where that reputation bonus reward with the plasma launcher is concerned really.

I've been doing CE with a friend and it's extremely common that we get the same placing.

Ooh, that's a good idea. You think Scramble and Nadeon Detonator would be good for a "scattershot" type effect?

I always figured it was the guys spamming gravity well who were pulling in first.

I did, when I accidentally took my NX-01 for one run.

My fleet defiant always comes in second, except for one lazy run where I came in third.

Probably. And yeah, when I do change my setup, and go back to max weapon power, and back to my more offense oriented BOFF choices, I heal less but I place. I just wanted to try pure support, pure healing and see how it worked out. Also I'm not all that worried about placing in this event this many days into it, heh.

I do just fine with the new scoring system on all types of character classes and ships. I am running it on 3 tacs, 1 sci, and 1 eng captain. 1 tac in a vesta, another in a Bortasqu, and the other in a Fleet Regent, the sci is in a Kumari, and the eng is in a Karfi. I usually place 1st or 2nd with these characters, never have gotten less then third running it at least once per day, sometimes more. I use a combination of healing and dps, I also intentionally take hull damage to heal it, and to buff my GDF up on my tacs. My tacs usually don't tac team until they get down to 50% hull, then I GDF, and immediatley heal back up after it runs out, but then purposley keep taking more hull damage and healing it after while firing the whole time.

The more I play this mission (60 runs and counting), the more and more its apparent it is still a DPS race, just a variation that favors Klingon heavy carriers instead of escorts. You can get first in anything, but its difficult (doable, but difficult) if you're driving a traditional beam-broadsiding Star Cruiser, whereas a mission min-maxed Kar'fi could get first with a bot driving it.

Really I'd just love to get some missions that reward purple consoles for genuinely cooperative play, instead of this kind where the real enemy is the other players.
