Thanks for that, it make me feel absolutely great to know that I as a player am worthless... oh, did I say thanks?
Fit that cruiser so you can solo an entire side in KASE istead of just holding stuff, and youll stop failing missions.

Dont mean to be an ass, but nothing you mentioned is moderately challenging or difficult.

The only thing that should kill you in KASE is getting too close to a gateway.

I likely could but I don't feel the desire to try incase I screw up, If I have a probesman I can solo the structures faster that 2 (decent) escorts in some cases, but of course that doesn't matter and besides I don't fail STFs in 99.9 recurring percent of occasions but again because I can't solo the whole thing AND get the optional that doesn't matter does it?

I found it difficult before I geared my build as far as I can towards DPS without getting killed by everything that looks at me (yes I have managed that extreme)

And in most cases I can solo those without dying in a fair time but equally that wont change anything because i'm supposed to remove what little fun I derive from this game to overspecialize and grind away to do so such that there is no enjoyment left aren't I?

Sorry I don't play a tac/scort as my main, sorry i try to have a little fun playing the game, and my most sincere apologies for not solo-ing every piece of content in time for every optional... I fly an eng cruiser, DPS (as has been said many, many times) IS NOT MY JOB!
It's fun? We'll just nerf that.

Anyone else see a contradiction in decrying 'overspecialization' while saying that DPS "IS NOT MY JOB!" ?

You have your engineer captain abilities and a cruiser, not a "tank" (and not a "healer"). Your "job" is to do whatever you can with that cruiser to help advance the victory condition (and avoid failure conditions). You can do this at varying levels of effectiveness. You can do this with varying levels of sophistication or attention. You can do this with or without adhering to simplified preconceptions about your "role". You can do this with or without making full use of your eight weapon slots. You can do this with or without spending time idle. And you can do this with or without making changes to your build and strategy based on the specificities of the situation or your knowledge about what might work better.

Just don't be surprised if those choices have an impact on your effectiveness, or even cause defeat where there might have been victory. And recognize those choices for what they are-- choices-- and take ownership of the results. First seek to understand what you can do and what you can do better. Then do what you can and do better what you can do better.

Or don't, if you really can't be bothered.

Nope, can't say I do. PvE cruiser captains should not be forced into a handful of hyperspecialized DPS hybrid builds if they want to be respected, let alone told that they need to quit running a cruiser and use an escorts or be just as bad as the guys who won't even look at chat while they do 1k DPS on the wrong target. The current state of the game does encourage that somewhat, but that's a problem with the game, not the way it should be. And cruisers don't have it half as bad as sci ships on that score, they can put out solid DPS, tank reasonably well, and give powerful heals (ok, mainly Extend Shields) to others all at the same time. And potentially even throw in some CC with an EWP.

Post me a carry-build for a sci in an Atrox.

Really, I'm curious as to what I should aim for.

Their are times that it is impossible to carry a team. I have been in a game Khitomer Vortex (Elite) flying a Cruiser as a Engineer and the other 4 flying escorts as tactical officers and they had been doing pathetic damage taking more then 2 times longer to destroy a single cube then me doing it solo. I also did not die doing it and they had deaths. The second time when a Cube appeared on their side they all ran until the Cube left the area forcing me to deal with it. They also had been paying very little attention to probes.

It was not my fault at all not one ounce that the optional failed. Yes the missions are a team mission but that does not mean that any failure whatsoever is on everyone. And about the even in a game with 4 AFKer's and optional fails is my fault no just no that must be the part your talking about in the Disclaimer: This is only half serious.
