The ground vendor at the Romulan Flotilla sells a host of brand new weapons and while I've only tried a few of them they're really kind of neat, but they operate on a completely different mechanic than the weapons we've come to know and rely-upon previously and we're left to discover this difference on our own.

Cryptic, could you please add some sort of mini-tutorial about these new weapons somewhere in the introductory phase where we're exploring the flagship? It took me a while to figure out how to properly use these weapons and even longer to realize that many of them use the new energy-reserve mechanic that you introduced with the yet-to-be-released-to-Holodeck Romulan Plasma Flamethrower weapon.

Additionally, please look at the AI for the BOFFs when they are equipped with these weapons. One of them has a hold-to-fire mode that doesn't drain weapon energy and thus will fire infinitely if the BOFF uses it on the last living enemy in a mob.
