Why not make a 5 man Tuffli teams and do a proper premade vs premade match to find out who is right and who si not ? I heard those awesome "top pvpers" in STO do that. Or maybe we should wait till the RCS change hits holodeck, so we can turn some of our cr..i mean tufflis to escorts.

Hrmm, will there be a Romulan Wartuffli with Battle Cloak?

As far as what MT said though, I think it will depend on how many of the new folks to PvP have been married or not. If not, then they probably won't have the patience, stamina, willpower...er...deadened nerves and general malaise about life in general...to put up with it.

Those that have been married, were lucky enough to find an attorney that was able to provide a cure...well, they may just muddle their way through it.

Space pvpers can complain about these potential changes, but I direct your attention to the T3 Ground passive "Cryo Immobilizer Module" = a 20% chance to deal 250 cold damage per sec for 5 secs with 50% shield penetration and briefly immobilizes target.

If that goes live ground pvp is dead.

Average player health with [HP] boost on armor = 540-560 health
Average shield strength for a [CAP]x3 fleet shield after player boosts = 450ish

So basic math seems to be = 250 dmg x 5 = 1250 DMG -50% = 625 dmg from the passive if it runs the full 5 secs, and it doesn't state if hypos or a shield charge will clear it.

Just checked with a Phased Tetryon Pulsewave Assault mk XI [critD]x2 I had on my Tac toon.

Unbuffed Primary damage = 163.3 dmg, 2ndry = 272.2 dmg
Tac buffed Primary damage = 606 dmg, 2ndry = 1011.3 dmg

then add the "Cryo Immobilizer Module" passive + the 15.5% crit chance + the critdx2 from weapon + base 60% crit severity using a gambling device or 140% using Fleet recoil compensating armor [without buffs] and your opponent will most likely still be shooting at you if your immobilized, and here I used to think the stasis pistol and Cryo Pulsewave were bad

On top of everything else its Cold damage which there is still not much of a defense against, IIRC its max is 10.4% for cold resist vs 36% or better against plasma/phaser ,etc.

In space PVP terms = tractored, subnuked, stuck in warp poo while a DPB-3 of the old Tricobalt super-crit mines is preparing to activate and annihilate you.

I hope I have time to "make peace with my dear and fluffy Lord" before being obliterated
considering I can get off 2 super-buff tac shots in less than 30 secs with Tac Initiative on the ground and I dont use keybinds for the buffs

The preceding message has been for clarification I shall now return to the regularly scheduled REP/CE/Dilith grind on 25 toons and enjoy my fabulous 4 ground pvp maps the variety is awe inspiring.

Great! I only have to go up to t2 Tholian Rep instead of at least t4 like Omega. It should be easy enough. I hope this pattern in rep systems continues where the best space passives are unlocked at t2 so we can pass on the rest of it if we choose to.

So just shut it all off then....

Take for example GW2... where the sPvP and tPvP modes both remove every piece of pve earned gear you have... its a completely different paper doll. Would such a system be bad ?

Frankly I think if we turn all that stuff off... everyone can compete on a level playing field. It will still take talent to design a proper build... a proper team... and to fly it properly.

However there would be no blaming gear or rep or anything else at the end of the day.

Honestly it was borts idea not long ago... to turn of most of the pve stuff for pvp.

We sort of shot it down with out thinking it through I think.

It works in other games... I think it was even the first STO devs thinking to begin with. We used to have PvP gear and PvP merits... and I believe there intention always was to expand that in away that for PvP you used this stuff for pve you used this stuff.

We are all saying this game is pretty much impossible to balance at this point due to rep and item power creep... and it is.

Frankly as long as we are at the mercy of every terrible junk item that Gecko and the rest of the PvE team release into the system... the game will NEVER have any semblance of balance.

However IF... we had a PvP paper doll ship... you select your PvP ship just like you select your shuttle... and when you map load an arena or a cap and hold or some new game type I hope... you load into your PvP ship.

That ship should have nothing but Hyper/Combat/impulse and Covarient/resistant/standard shields and the standard deflectors.

No Fleet gear... No Rep gear... No rep passives... no lobi Gear...

Make Blue weapons and gear of every type purchasable from a vendor with a -p on the end meaning they are only for use on the PvP paper doll. Make this gear Free or at the most like the cost of pve junk gear from the vendors.

Create a PvP merit system... or simply bring back the old currency.

Create another vendor that sells purple weapons and gear. (standard 3 mod stuff)... and sell those for merits. Set it up so every 2-3 matches you could pop in a purple weapon... and after a night or two you could grab a purple shield engine what ever.

At that point I think we would all see just how balanced the Boff Skills really are... and how un game breaking the doffs are on there own.

Cryptic makes money off of people gearing their vessels for PvP. If that gear did not matter, Crypic would not make money off of people gearing their vessels for PvP.

what the dinosaurs back from 1st season gotta get through their heads is..

(god bless you all, you invented all the classic builds and strats)

but,

the game is evolving.

welcome to where team play is king and defense is what matters (not to mention its not always anymore of what $ can buy for your build will mean "auto win" but what your build is)

GONE are the days of 1 build to rule them all!!!

(love this by the way, about time we get closer to rock, paper, scissors)

TIRED I am of seeing the same boff powers poped in the same order on the same silly cookie cutter ships

It's TIME for a reset-

Things to think about:

How can I catch a ship that DECLOAKS and alpha's me? (not to mention, live to get him)

HOw can I FIND a ship that is cloaked? (sorry folks, all the complaining about klinks and their cloaks will be a thing of the past with the romulans coming into the factor for fed)

How do I bridge the gap between EPTS?!? (yup, we all get a bit weaker after it goes live, you all complained about sheild tanking being OP, well- this is Cryptic's FIX so deal)

How do I DEAL with shield DRAIN!! (ya, face it folks, going to be some serious dps and shield drain in the coming months, so when you get the respec, might want to look into what skills do what)

How to deal with all this SCIENCE!! (face it, wider arcs and PLENTY of ships boff layouts to take advantage of it will just be a simple difference of those that know what skills/consoles to slot to min/max it VS those that just sloted a boff for sh!ts and giggles)

FINALLY!

OMG why cant I HIT anything!?! (yup thats right, tac's going to have a trait that de-buffs your acc------ so ya, get use to being focused fired on and not being able to fire back for love or money)

some major love i see coming out for sci,

some great options for tac,

and eng being the wild card with the new trait either making a HUGE dif in pvp (as in the cooldown going way after a spike for miracle worker) or meaning nothing in pvp ---

side note: GOD I hope this new trait for eng is a game changer, eng has being needing LOVE for SOOOOO long its not even funny, (I run 5, ya thats FIVE tac captains on fed and klink, 1 sci and my first character.... an engineer.)

I love the IDEA of an engineer! (who doesnt love scotty or geordi! hell, even obrian or tuker.. comon! they keep the ship together!, its time the engineers come back with a vengence to pvp BESIDES JUST heal boats!!)
Just because it is not a cookie cutter escort does not mean it should not be in the game.

Win or lose, in the end it does not reflect on who you are as a person, in the end it is how you treat others that really reflects who you are.
