There is question, what tactic was choose by team at the start RML or RMMRL?

THERE I WAS>>>>

This is 2 in a row with the exact same problem...

CSN

I PUG in and say 'HI' as usual. (Both instances)

No responce. (Both instances)

I fly right, nobody follows. (Both instances)

I look back, all four ships setting at the Kang. (Both instances)

I kill the probes and cube and both of the first spawned BOPs. (Both instances)

I fly on to cube 2 and see 2 ships have tetryons, 2 have Rainbow/Technicolor beams. (1st Instance)

I fly on to cube 2 and see all 4 have Rainbow /Technicolor beams. (2nd Instance)

Nobody is leaving the Kang to intercept the Borg, they all wait for the Borg to come to them. (Both Instances)

I kill cube 2 and fly to cube 3.

I see 2 ships die at the same time and notice they both have a slew of injuries. (Instance 2)

Optionals fails just as I start on cube 3. (Instance 2)

I complete cube 3 and fly on to kill what the other 4 couldn't. (Both instances)

The rest of both instances went on as normal.

I've had a pretty good couple of weeks until yesterday. It seemed like everyone was out to fail.

Just had a good laugh in ISE.

One veteran in D'kora.
One skittles+rainbow looser from known looser fleet in Kumari (wing cannons, polaron cannons, plasma dbb and plasma torps).
One almost afker, I didnt notice what he was flying.
One apparently new guy in a Vesta, plasma beams and AP beams.

Had to rudely direct them to shoot transformer, since they just ran around trying to kill spheres. Situation repeated itself at the second trans, only D'kora guy and me were shooting what had to be shot. At this point one of loosers died at least 3 times. I wasn't even getting annoyed, just entertained. It was clear that we will miss optional - 3 guys were doing almost no damage, D'kora vet was getting all the aggro and was killed at least twice.
Tac cube showed up, spheres were scattered all over, 2 guys were shooting the gate.
I typed in team chat something like "X, stop dragging them and let them play with tac cube, it should be entertaining". Vesta guy responded with "SOB!" while being one-shotted.
They eventually managed to kill the gate, and I just was flying around, laughing, occasionally killing a stray sphere.
Couldn't really force myself to do more.
They were struggling against the tac, getting killed a lot.
Finally I started to do strafing runs, ordered my fighters to attack etc. Vesta guy was one-shotted again. I typed "keep the cube under AoE, then it won't one-shot anyone". I followed it with PM to vesta guy, "you may want to stick to single color builds, esp. with aux cannons". His response was "I don't know what anything of that means". So I replied with "thats why you get killed a lot".
I wanted to send him a friend invite and give him a crash course in basics - turned out he added me to ignore list.

Guess he just turned from newb into noob.

First of all, seems to me you weren't helping at all. Second, humility is a lost art hehe. I've had people that weren't familiar with build synergy as well and I did such a better job with them by being humble and personal when I approached them. Third, it's not you vs them, you were also part of the team you know?

Don't you love it when the dreamers post? When you do a few hundred or better yet a few thousand STF's, you'll begin to understand our frustration.

I knew it will be a mess when I had to herd them toward shooting the trans - they would probably turn it into Hundred Years War if the D'kora guy or me weren't there. Since STF was completed with optional failed by about 2 minutes, I guess I was helping them after all.

Second, I wasn't excessively rude, I wasn't speaking in Capslock. That guy added me to ignore list because he didn't understand what I was PMing him about. Well, I guess he has to learn about "build synergy" the hard way, if ever.

I did close to 1k STFs, overwhelming majority of it pugging, getting optional in decent time in most cases, and I genuinely want to play more of them. This means STFs are still an entertainment for me. You can't blame me if I get additional kicks out of them.

I have to put up this tale aswell...

Yesterday; 5-man team enters Infected Space Normal; as usual I say greetings in chat followed with my personal intention in the mission (I usually defend, do probe duty or protect kang).

Ok so far, so good... ISE requires you to take down 2 sets of generators and finally the 2 transformers...

So what happened? After I gently said in chat lets go left after the cube (can I be more polite than this???) I noticed 2 or 3 guys were shooting stuff (I dont know what they shot...) on the other (right...) side even though I mentioned left first...

All of the sudden we were engolfed by spheres, nanite spheres/probes, the transformer we (I will call us the 'vets' by lack of a proper term), the 'vets' were shooting was getting healed back up to 100 percent and all this time the other guys were still shooting the stuff on the other (right) side...

After I counted maybe 10 units of each type (speheres, N-speheres, N-probes...) I decided to put in a funny remark in chat...: ->

My chat was: Well, this is rather useless...
The one other guy that knew what to do said back I have never seen this many spheres and probes before...

Long story short; (I shouldnt be using this term, but they are what they are: noobs..., dratz I should have said new players because now I will become an elitist stf player...)

I only have this to say... Whenever you join an stf I expect you to know what to do. I will not explain how the mission goes (you have the bridge officers and their windows for that - you know the "interaction buttons... There you can read up on how the mission goes. If you dont I will still help out, but dont expect much sympathy from me...)

I had a number of should I say bad stf's? Nah I will say went less than optimal.

I am actually just glad when its over, more so when you have new players present who dont know the first thing about stf's...

I am starting to think that it is my build (skill allocation...) or its just me, making bad (tactical) calls to engage targets... Or it could be the other 3 players were in rainbow escorts and cruisers...

Sorry, I realize my post in in bits and pieces but you get the gist of it...

Peace

Complains about other people not helping themselves, or knowing what to do in a game.

Runs "a few hundred or better yet a few thousand STF's" and still doesn't understand "don't PuG".

Continues to PuG, complains about it. Doesn't do anything to help others, even though it's been explained to him it's in his, unenlightened even, self-interest to do so.

Still doesn't understand the irony of complaining about players who don't help themselves, while doing nothing to help himself.
Somebody getting uppity about canon? No problem! Just take a deep breath, and repeat after me:

Hmm. I'm noticing frankly that there is a lot of negativity here with newbies. A lot of people here have apparently run into noobs who won't listen to directions, or worse, trolls that deliberately do exactly what you DON'T want them to do. In reaction it seems some of you are preaching the idea that it's okay to completely deny any information to the newbies as to what they're doing wrong.

It's not unusual for me to get into an stf and have a noob argue with me that he knows what he's doing while doing the exact thing I told him he should not, so we lose the optional. It's also becoming a fairly regular thing for me to join an instance and see someone deliberately doing things incorrectly just because they know we hate it.

When the opportunity presents itself however, I try to take a few minutes out of my life to explain to these people what they're doing wrong, and how they can succeed next time. Certainly it doesn't help win an already lost optional - but there is a very good chance that I will wind up having to play with some of them again in the future.

It's only to my benefit if they know how to do the stf correctly the next time I have to play with them.

Yes, I do advocate reading about stfs before jumping in the deep end... However these newbies obviously haven't done so. They may not even know where to go for said information. It is NOT okay to simply ignore the situation and blame them just because they don't know what they're supposed to be doing.

I tend to do that, if there is one guy who is very vocal about ordering people around. its fun to annoy them with stupid questions while doing something seemingly stupid. and in the end somehow we manage to get the optional, but ofc it is the others' hard work that brought it, because I am a noob ^^ except I deal 40-50% of the dmg of the whole round, but lets just say that is because they are typing and trying to prove I am doing it wrong
