Oh boy the fleet heavy cruiser, we meet again. Overall it has the boff layout I like. Not great for damage but good at healing. The main problem is the inertia. If you do the conduit, and hit full impulse right towards the first cube, you will powerslide right on through the gate.

It all depends on what playstyle you want and what captain you are. If yer a tac, don't bother as you can get better mileage with a fleet excel. If yer an eng then yeah it ain't bad. Don't expect to do any pvping with it though. Again because if yer a tac then its kind of a waste and if yer an eng you are just wasting your time trying to pvp anyway.

Just yeehaw and blast some '80s power metal you hit full impulse. Bam, problem solved.

I don't see why this is such a big deal.
Somebody getting uppity about canon? No problem! Just take a deep breath, and repeat after me:

It's a great ship! It's the ship that I use for my character. Everything is good about it, except for the inertia. The fleet version is the way to go, especially since you get an extra console slot.
I think that the Stargazer variant is the best looking non-canon ship in the game!

Power-sliding is a pretty neat skill to learn when flying preponderous ships like these. Especially useful to do a drift and have the nose pointed to the target while you go cruise past and then are now happily chasing its tail.

The Fleet Heavy Cruiser Retrofit is actually a pretty decent ship. Can break it down via stats.

Hull: 39,600
Shield Modifier: 1.1

The hull has the lowest hit points of all the Federation Fleet Cruisers, but with that said an extra couple thousand hit points won't really matter all that much. Shield modifier was fixed in a fairly recent up date and it's now the same as all the other Fleet Cruisers.

Bridge Offficer Stations:
Lt Tac
En Tac
Cmd Eng
LtCmd Eng
Lt Science

This is another federation cruiser that suffers from an overabundance of engineering stations. With that said it's not a terrible bridge officer layout and allows for some decent offensive capability, much better then some other ships...cough cough Fleet Galaxy.

Turn: 8
Inertia: 30

This is one of the best turning Federation cruisers. The only other cruisers with 8 is the Excelsior. It's Inertia rating however is slightly lower then the Excelsior, but this ship can sill maneuver fairly well.

Overall the ship is decent. To recap It's hull hit points are slightly lower then average, though not enough to really be a deterrent. It's shield modifier is the same as all the other cruisers, it has an average bridge officer layout, and above average maneuverability. If you happened to fly the VA Assault Cruiser and thought it was ok this ship is similar, but superior in almost every way. If you think it's cool looking you should get it. I don't think you would be disappointed. With that said the Fleet Excelsior and Fleet Regent are both superior ships overall. Hope this helps some.

It just takes a bit of getting used to. The number is only slightly higher than other ships, but it apparently makes a big difference. Its kind of a big deal if you sail right past your target, out of weapons range, out of range of your team to toss heals out.

Though throwing on "Kick Start My Heart" does make up for some of it

And the ship is very tiny! I think the only thing smaller than it is the Defiant, aside from shuttles. Kind of annoyed me flying around with 8 turn rate, when escorts are bigger with higher turn.

Spock's brain? Brain and brain, what is brain?

Nope. There's more ships that are smaller than it than the Defiant and the small craft/shuttles. The Nova and the Ushaan immediately jump to mind.

While I might agree to some extent, a T5 Fleet AC is absurdly and painfully expensive for anyone who does not already have T5 access (which is probably most of the game). However, the T5 Assault Cruiser also has different BOff stations and less maneuverability, which may not suit OP's purposes.
