try just healing the crap out of your team with faw's and torp spreads. I got first last night and only used 1 beam array.

I have a good idea how that happens, I also consistent placed first with a Vesta on other characters ... only ship I have no idea how the hell I got first place was with that Tac with a Steamrunner.

DPS is surprisingly not king in CE, so that's refreshing content right there.

What irks me is that people think small shards really don't heal the entity? Which is WRONG!!!!

Alright, it's true they changed small shards to not heal the entity directly, but they do build up its resistance which means it gives it a chance to passively regenerate. So really, those shards are basically heals, even if it's indirectly. Now, people should stop letting themselves get hit with large shards, because the collisions generate small shards which go to heal the entity (you know what I mean). And people that want to get to first place by extending the run by building up the entity's resistance to get the most heals, well keep doing that and people will quit on you and you will totaly end up with not reward at the end. Think about it.

I'm actually a little puzzled... stowiki.org says the small shards give it a damage buff, doesn't mention whether or not it buffs up its resistance. Which is weird because everytime I see the small shards going back to the entity, it seems to help regenerate it a couple of seconds later. And it's not something that looks random, it's pretty consistent. Maybe I'm missing something...

You said you seen it heal and that is true but you forget its ALWAYS healing, just because you are seeing the number going up means its healing is done and its moving to start the next cycle, not its healing because the shards buffed its DR since even if that is true its only delaying its destruction.

Besides healboats can still deal damage, they have weapons are are firing at the CR because healing does not take a slot and getting first place is irrelevant outside the first unless you like random Purple Mk X gear, sure 45k EC is nice but if I want EC runs there are better places for it.

Oh and subnuking it removes the buff ...

In fact if Rep project reward go away I would say it goes back to desert town, 100 per day is pretty nice and there is a incentive for it as if it goes to daily that is pretty much the only time anyone will run it.

And, according to the original announcement, Energy Siphon, Tachyon Beam, Tyken's Rift, and Charged Particle Burst. I can't confirm that because I've never seen a buff on it for long enough to check what it is. My Vesta runs double Siphon plus a TR, and then GW and TBR to keep the fragments away from people as much as possible. Then I pile on with all the firepower of a 1 tac boff Vesta, and wind up getting first place a fair bit (of course, I do have pretty good firepower, at least relative to the average pug).

I kind of liked this event...
Nice to get the 50k dili ore and 1k fleet marks per character...
The additional CE space pet is nice to have, but considering I fly a Negh'var it is compared to my ship quite small. I did a total of 28 runs with 2 characters... 27 runs went like clockwork, but 1 of them was trully hell in space...
I ended up with a group who totally ignored the large fragments... Sure they tried to run away from them, all the while shooting the CE, but never the fragments. Constantly I saw players get blown to pieces because of the large fragments colliding with them.
So I made the mistake of asking in zone chat if my fellow players could please assist me in blasting away some of the large.
Immediatly I got a reply that I shouldn't shoot the large fragments because that spawns the small ones.
In no way was I able to convince them that the small frags only spawn when the large collides with a player. In the end I thought by myself screw it and I only blasted the CE and let everyone be blown up constantly. The match in the end took about 45 minutes or so.

My least reliable winners are tacs in fleet escorts that usually have the best DPS by up to half again, but don't get points for other stuff and so get 2nd or 3rd.
In my experience (after getting 1st place with 14 characters) from easiest to hardest:

1. Carriers/Vesta. Pets seem to help a lot here.

2. Healboats. Odyssey with a single tactical console and FAW1 and APB1 as offensive skills almost always gets the 1st place.

3. Escorts. Highest DPS definitely doesn't guarantee the 1st place.

4. DPS cruisers.

Finding ten minutes to play it every day is not hard, even with a job or exams coming up.

Its ten minutes!
