Have managed first place with my Sci, in my Vesta on four occasions.
Have managed first place with my Sci, in my Fleet Rhode Island, on one occasion.
Have never managed first place with my Tac in my Fleet Defiant (have never placed)
Have never managed first place with my Tac in my Kumari (best was third)
I did however manage second place with my Tac using my Galaxy-X
And I did manage a second place with my Tac in my Fleet Assualt Cruiser.
But I can live with that. Less emphasis on DPS, more on healing/crowd control - suits me just fine.
Personal T6 Ship Wishlist:
Nova/Rhode Island class with Hybrid Pilot BOFF seat.
That is all. (guess this wasn't really a 'list' after all!)
I have managed to get first almost every time (got 2nd place once but that was after i did an STF and forgot to replace my borg doff with the flight deck doff didn't change target when it was absorbing energy) for the last 2 weeks on my jemmy dreadnaught, even before that i was still placing first 2 out of 3 times, i think torps and mines are definitely better for this mission as the mines and fighter on intercept will take out the shards and torps do more damage as the entity has no shields i only do the mission hoping to get valuable loot although the 100 FM each day are a bonus
Cruisers and Science vessels are the perfect ships for this event.
The CE is not as much about DPS but rather team support. If you are tossing out heals left, right and sideways AND DPS'ing then you WILL place first.
I have done this event in my Galaxy-R and Regent. I have placed 1st EVERY single run. Where nearly everyone in my team only healed themselves I took the time to heal me, my team AND the other team. Your heals should be on CD the entire mission and you WILL place first.
I love this event simply because it DOES reward team play. This is especially important for me since my ships tend to be fleet support first and secondary DPS.
I also came in first yesterday in a Gal-R. It was mostly a test to see if I could.
I was healing my team constantly. Every time I saw someone's shields start to go down I'd slip them a TT, or a TSS2, or an ES. If I saw their hull start to drop, I'd give them an A2SIF, an HE, or an ET.
Different from my usual escort play, but actually quite fun.
∆ this. I play eng cruisers exclusively, and this is why I manage first more often than not. Yes, healing teammates give an incredible amount of points, and combined with whatever range you do in addition, you're almost guaranteed first place each time. The galaxy, guardian, dreadnaught, and other eng heavy cruisers are all perfectly set up for this.
To put the importance of healing in perspective hear is something to think about. When I have parsed CE with friends from my fleet People have taken 1st doing as little as 3k dps, whilst in teams with people doing 30k.
Healing is the overriding factor when determing score hear.
that said, in a legit run (ill get to that) anyone can take first... and someone will... it depends on the competition. A sci ship with heavy kinetic damage skills and torps and group heals and such is really, really hard to beat in this event. A well played top dps ship is hard to beat too, if they do not die even a beamboat scim can be hard to beat in spite of the CC's energy resists.
On top of that, anyone can win with a *number* of cheap tactics. There are special consoles and abilities that can give you a serious advantage .. healing is weighted heavy in the reward so dropping, for a dumb example, a mirror whatsit HE on your group after the AOE to heal everyone's hull can get you mega points. Dropping a rep - shield healing bubble on a couple of allies can get you mega points. And those are just a couple of the things you can do. Also certain weapons are extra effective on the thing.... people that want to can build a ship just to get first place... by using things that are pretty meh in all other content but shine for CCA. I don't know how much shooting other targets than the crystal body count, but I took first a lot in a ship that had the point defense, that thing does stupid amounts of dps to the shardlets that fly around.
