hmmm,.. The the Excelsior is on the more on the Dmg side of gameplay (4 tac consoles), but whats make it better is it Tactical Lt. Commander Boff Station, though it does need a Universal Ensign Boff station to replace the 3rd eng boff ensign station so it can have more flexibility but then again it won't suffer from chronic boff Eng ability CD problems due to the fact that the Excelsior have less boff Eng abilties than the Galaxy.

the other hand the Fleet Support Cruiser is a primary example how an average Fed Fleet cruisers should be, with average fiirepower (3 tac consoles) a Universal Boff Station it can be as adaptive as any Romulan/Lock Box ship.

They do have a Eng to boost damage it call Emergency Power to Weapons, but using it will force u not to use Emergency Power to Shields due to universal EPtX CD, also using EPtW is a risk of do u want more firepower over the ability to survive, but with only 2 Tac Consoles on the Galaxy using EPtW would not change much on ur Galaxies offense to make any difference and make ur ship defense much weaker... either way in PvP u would most likely die with the galaxy doing very little.

I'd buy a revamped Galaxy with good stations, but only if it comes with Galaxy bridge well proportionated (an actual one, not the current 'galaxy' bridge), interior assests like they do in the Conny, and the ability to put all your crew with the TNG uniform! Darn you, Cryptic, gimme my TNG roleplayish/pvp experience! Yeah, and poker is a must have too, I forgot.

Its suppose to be the most versatile design and most module ship that starfleet had designed atleast up to its creation so why not reflect that. Make it the Jack of all trades it should have been.

Tac 4 (fleet 5)

Doubt it'll happen but seeing as its a Dreadnaught and has the biggest gun (phaser lance) in the federation fleet along with the use of cannons think it should have the Bo layout and console layout to reflect its a battleship and not just a explorer that someone slapped a big lance on and some cannons. It'd give the Federation the Cruiser firepower that the romulans got with their Scimatar and has the 5 tac consoles like the Klingons bortas.

For canon, Galaxy never was a fine starship, and being the faster Enterprise in being replaced doesnt talk very well about its performanceeeebut, we forgot the ships here are retrofited, and Galaxy retrofit should do a fine Eng/Sci bias cruiser with the proper layout.

Also, Cony would make a hell of escort.

engi power have not as goal to replace tactical power, since everyone is complaining that we should not go further into a dps centric game, why would we transform engie power into new tacticals powers?

what next? science to be transform into tactical too?

gecko mention that they are working on a mechanism to enhanced cruiser, i think this is the way to go rather than transforming every engie power into tactical one.

"not a fine Starship"?!?

The GCS had the strongets shields, heaviest phasers and in general the most versatile ship Starfleet ever had.

The Sov. was introduced (in universe) as a substitution to the Excelsior, but it is not even in the same weight class as a GCS. (Sov and Excel even look almost the same.)


To say the GCS wasn't a fine ship is the biggest understatement ever.
Seriously i suggest you should familiarize yourself with the matter first, before making such statements.

I agree.

I would rather see a new mechanic added, maybe something similar like the Romulan singularity cores abilities, just more Starfleet -like.
Able to charge and become stronger the higher the charge, you get the idea.

Some abilities could be a special tow tractor beam, unlike the static "you can't move anymore" tractor beam we having STO.
Or they could add a Phaser Beam array discharge, as seen numerous times on TV.
(unlike BO it wouldn't drain Weapons energy)
Another thing would be to add a "360 degrees Torpedo Spread" ability, the higher the "charge" the more torpedoes get fired.
They could add a "extend shields" ability, or a improved "polarize hull" which both grant a better damage resistance.

There are numerous possibilities doable with such a mechanic alone. I think no one wants Engineering turned into a Science 2.0 or a weak tactical copy.
