I think the OPs idea would be a great addition to the game.

I think that inside the ship missions and minigames would be an excellent addition to the game.

Adding timers and countdowns, not so much. I think that would increase the frustration factor of a lot of missions.

Many people continute to recommend this and every time it is well posted I will continue to agree with them. It would give us more to do and add immersion and a new feel to the game for us. I would put money down that sometime down the road we will see it happen, I just wish it were sooner than later.

Ship interior missions was one of the reasons stated for the size of the bridge interiors, they had to be large enough to fit not just you and your BOffs but to also fit a spawn of mobs or whatnot in the event of combat on the bridge. You get some examples of just how crowded a bridge can get in some of the Captain level missions out of DS9/Cardassian space. The devs have talked about the possibility of putting missions aboard ship and even expanding your playable space out from to the bridge later on. It is definitely something that's on their list.

It would be cool if, when customizing your BOFFs, you could pick out a homeworld for them.

That way, when you're flying around in Sector space and get close to one of their home planets they'd pop up in a chat window and start a mission that might start on your ship and maybe take you down to their home planet where you save their family from the mob (a la Ezri Dax) or something of that nature.

Anyway, missions on your ship would be a big part of this and a great addition to the game in general.

Any good ideas on how to handle aboard your own ship missions while teamed?

This is a n absolutely brilliant idea. I especially second the people who have been suggesting this as a mission template of sorts - just to mix it up a bit, repellling boarders or hell even scanning objects in main engineering would be a good break from the standard ground mission environments.

I don't think this should be too hard to implement. If people fly around with missions on their ships, it would pretty much just be an away team mission. Others can join in if they want, like they can with planet missions.

The way to invite them could be through a sector wide invitation screen. A player can "ask" for assistance in all channels and frequencies (to quote the series) and other could reply.
OR
Use the simple LFG channel: "LF help with a CM3 on-board mission, science officer needed"
OR
And this is probably the most obvious. This could finally lend a purpose to forming Fleets. What better way to quest with your Fleet mates than on each others' ships.

I like the idea and agree.
Stories in your own ship.
Maybe intruder alert, you name it.
