So, you're saying that with no skills outside base skills, and no bridge officer upgrades or skillups, and no ship equipment or player equipment outside base equipment, you played and bested mobs at +5 to +10 levels over you?
If this is what you're saying, I'm saying I dont believe you. I think if such a claim is being made, it's fabricated and not true. Even with the highest level equipment items for both me and my ship, and the bridge officers, +3 is way beyond challenging ... it's a guaranteed suicide if they happen to gang up on me at more than five mobs per gang.
Then again, if that's not what you're saying, then I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by 5-10 levels harder.
This is what I have found as well. +3 are tough. Perhaps he was not really playing but letting others do all the fighting and picking up points in the team missions.
I... I invite you to do this little experiment. Take your ship, set your front and rear phasers on autoattack (right click on them, you can only set one weapon per side as autoattack). Next fight you have, stop your ship at 10km from the enemy, fire *once* and watch your ship win all fights on autofire. Sure it'll take longer since you won't be firing torpedoes, but the sole fact that you don't have to do anything to win is a clear indication that the difficulty level in this game is borked. I'm level 14 and can still do this for most if not all fights (episode missions that is, not the fleet combats of course)
I had a similar strategy in OB, only instead of sitting still with auto-fire, I just hit 9.0 - 9.0 km, fired on one mob, then hit reverse and just continued firing and KO'd every time. And like you said it takes a long time. But that strategy got old in Headstart just for the simple fact it too way too long. Now its just 1/4 impulse, keep front shields to the mob i'm attacking, weaken the shields with phaser/torpedo salvo, when the side im attacking is down, hit it with High Yield Torpedo, followed by Tachyon Beam as the torps approach the target and its way quicker. So I abandoned the reverse thruster / sit still strategy. However, this strategy will most likely need to be revised as I progress beyond LC5 (current)
But, now that I know (believe it or not I never knew) about auto-fire, Ill be using that as well. Thanks ...
No death penalty, money rains down out of the sky, exp rains from the sky. We have Admirals in game already lol. I am sure the self gratification care bear folk are very happy with them selves.
I wish I had some of this money you are talking about. I have about 1500 credits at Lt Commander 1 and have never purchased anything. I do have some stuff in my inventory to go sell but pretty much most of everything I have gotten as rewards and stuff I could actually use.
Those Admirals have not played the game. They are skipping the content completely.
I've read a your stuff on this matter and you are (IMHO) pretty much right on target.
There are folks who do nothing but play games... Or a the very least are pretty much what some would call "power players". These folks use what ever means neccessary to level to the top as quickly as possible. There are some players who actually level from 0 to 80 in WoW in a week or so. There has and always will be HUNDREDS of people in any game who are quite capable of playing at this level.
As for the "easy I win game" ... LOL I find that even more amusing. Maybe if someone runs with "packs" all the time, sit in the back, and never run the risk of being hit by Romulan heavy plasma until they have a heavy cruiser with massive shields attuned to "plasma resistance". Try running the Alpha Quadrant Listening to Enemy Signal with a basic Escort that is only modestly equiped (at best) ... (man .... I wished there was a ship with "point defense" available).
Noooo the lower levels are not hard. IMHJO they were not ment to be. As the game progresses ... so does the level of difficulty (as it should be).
The game thus far: in a nut shell it is FUN ! The graphics are good, the missions are fun .. . (well with the exception of a couple exploration missions ... but that is another thread), I like what I see and experience. Yes there is room for improvement. In the same contest that WoW and EvE were not the same games at release as they are today IMHO STO can and will eventually reach its optimum expectation.
IMHO: Future game development should include: More mission content (for KLINGONS as well as Fed) ... More ships ( including a POST TNG Miranda design with a new hull class name) .. more content ... more mission scripts, an expanded and improved PvP system (not neccessarily all OPEN PvP). An easier way to keep your team togeather in the same instance. ... MORE content... Added crafted as it should be. Eventually (maybe .. but not a neccessity) .. some stuff with interiors
did I mention more content ?
Please note: the content you have now is good for a start ! Just keep up the good job .. and add LOTS more to what's there !
Edit: OH .. make sure there is good loot appropriate for the length of the mission .. etc .. etc .. etc..
BTW... where is the best place to get MKIII stuff for ship and crew ??
