It just depends on how you want to play. You charcter, just like your uniform, can be customized as you see fit.

Important? No.

With minimal returns at higher levels of a skill, in fact, one could argue it is better not to do so.

You're giving up 200 skill points for a 1% boost to all space based engineer abilities. Your choice if it's worth it.

what in the world are you talking about?

Operations affect science skills.. and 9 points into it is 100x9 = 900 skill points

Sorry, at work seems part of my message did not go through, and I admit I did mix up the skills.

To go from 7 to 9 to max it out, is a cost of 200 skill points for a 1% bonus. Though you are right, it effects Science abilities and not Engineer abilities.
