Getting ready for my t3 ship, thinking of ditching the cruiser for escort. I like the shield in the Cruiser, but the DPS is seriously lacking for PVP and fleet battles (reward grabs)
What are your impressions on the switch?
If you follow the FOTM thing, you'll get burned. Just play what you like, not what is best at a particular moment, because they may come tomorrow and say 'added damage received and healed in formula to calculate rewards'.
In beta I few all the ships up through T4 just to get a sense of them and to find which ones I liked flying best. (I ended up with the cruisers, even though after T3 it's a huge immobile brick that won't turn...)
The thing that's going to limit you is, as a previous poster said, your skill point investments. This is going to limit your effectiveness not just in your ship class, but in the weapons and other loadouts you have chosen. You really do need to commit to a ship type and loadout by T3 and after, because you won't be nearly as effective if you had specialized.
This was a huge issue in beta because there was no respec option at that point. We'd have to see what the devs do about respec to see if hopping between ship classes and weapon types is something that is easily doable, or should be done with great care.
