I think it is pure unfounded speculation.

Leave the colors alone, they are fine they way they are now, fun to play with.

Actually a Dev has commented on this subject, but before I posted my idea.

I am sure that the dev team didn't realize however how much many folks love being able to make there weapons distinct.

How about making the colours purely client-side?

That way players obsessed with canon can have canon, and players that want their ship to have cool colours can.

Make it so no one can see other's custom colours, either.

Hell, to make people happy that want to see other colours, have a slash command like /publiccolours (0/1 or off/on)?

This also cancels out the "what weapon are they firing?" argument.

The only person who's getting the advantages are the players that haven't set the option to see custom colours, which would obviously be default off.

this issue is defiantly not Dead and it would be nice for Cryptic to at least think this or some other option through before killing the idea completely
