02-04-2010, 03:21 AM
Hi,

If i have a officer with a high yield torp 1.
And i get a next lvl officer with a high yield torp 2.
Are these cooldowns shared?

The entire cooldown is not shared, but there is a delay imposed when using similar skills. The delay is generally 20-25 seconds.

It uses same system (torpedo) thus gets shared 20s cooldown.

Okay so does it have any use for me to have a build with.

High Yield 1
High Yield 2
High Yield 3

Or am i better of with picking diffrent attacks?

Since fully skilled up, those have a cooldown of 30s, there is no reason to have more than 2 of that power.

You would be better off picking something else in one of the slots. I'd suggest Attack Pattern Beta in place of Torp: HY II. The debuff should make for some impressive Torp: HY III strikes, assuming you apply some beam/cannon love before it hits

You are better with picking up different system abilities. In your example of 3 HYT abiltities is a complete waste.

Also if you're going to use that on an escort (seing as they're the only ships which get lt commander and commander tactical consoles), you'd better put cannon rapid fire somewhere in there as well.

There is a stick in the Combat section that can give you a break down of weapons that is worth the read.

As for which is "better" or hits harder.

There is a trade off, Cannons are a more solid punch, limited arc. Beam weapons have a greater arc, less DPS.

Read up on the sticky in the Combat section.
