# 1 Why no Excelsior?

I'm just curious as to why Cryptic chose to have the constitution in the game and not have the excelsior? In canon the Excelsior-class was the most numerous and longest used starship ever... and the Constitution was retired over 100 years ago. Just seems odd (the Excelsior model is one of my favs)

I would love to have the Excelsior class Starship in-game. It is one of my most favourite ships in star trek. Maybe in the future this could be a ship released as further content for STO.

There is an Excelsior-like choice for Lt. Cdr. called the Vesper if you choose the cruiser option.

Does anyone have a screen shot of the Vesper? Seems like it could be an Excelsior but I've never seen one.

Hah, was wondering this exact same topic today. That ship seemed to be everywhere between the shows and movies. Seemed to usually be the ones Admirals commanded.

I've never been a big fan of the Excelsior. Looks like a bath tub with a saucer attached. That said, they should of course add it to the game for those who are fans of it.

And don't say the Vesper is the new Excelsior. It REALLY angers the Excelsior fans. It has some similarities, but it's not really that close.

I missed this ship... Admitedly, I'm not a huge trek fan, I just basically like the ships . This was one I hoped to pilot :/.

It is quite odd that they have the Constitution class, but not the Excelsior. Odder still considering in the time line one of those classes is in a museum and one isn't.
