After countless rage threads (old one of mine included) I've yet to see someone just put out in the light what's wrong with this ship/possible fix. So I'm going to attempt to do so. *puts on flame retardant suit*
The Dreadnought Cruiser. I'm sure many a captain bought this ship with high hopes, only to discover that the only dread it brings is to the unfortunate pvp/pve team that is placed with one. Then said captain came screaming to the forums with complaints about the ship (i know i did this)
So, IMO the major things wrong with this ship is:
40k hull. It's a dreadnought. Give it at least 42.
1 shield modifier. It's a dreadnought. 1.1 shield modifier. fleet version should have 1.15 like the odyssey.
+5 power levels to all subsystems. Again, it's a dreadnought. +10 to weapons +10 to shields
BOFF set up. Lt tac. On a dreadnought. *cue facepalms*
Moving on to the possible fix.
FLEET DREADNOUGHT CRUISER!!!!!!
4 fore weapons*
4 aft weapons
1.1 shield modifier
+10 power to weapons +10 power to shields
Lt Cmdr Tactical.
Lt Cmdr Engineering
4 Tactical Consoles
4 Engineering Consoles
2 Science Consoles.

Ensign tactical instead of ensign universal
Increase the Phaser Lance damage by double, and increase accuracy so misses are extremely rare.
Include saucer seperation: -5 shield power +5 weapons power. + 6 turn rate. Adds ability to load DHC/DC -5k hull
It still would be just an average cruiser of the line like every other cruiser in this game. The excelsior would still be at least equal if not better cause of better turn. Its getting really boring every new cruiser escort is the same badic ship just some have a bit better this or that and different console thats it. I would prefer something more special. Maybe the lance as a high dmg low frequency extra weapon like the kumari wing cannon or a new bo layout like 3 coms.
I mean since the scim there is a lot of room upwards before a ship gets overpowered. Why not use it and give us something thats really nice and not just another cruiser like all the ones we already have.
Everything but the universal ensign. Universal slots are far too common, and the primary reason why most ships are able to do everything. Ensign eng, to mirror the galaxy r, or ensign tactical (its a dreadnought). Also, a desperately needed increase in the damage output from the spinal lance (come on, the frackin chimera does more damage with its special attack). And when are we gonna see this mythical ability to use saucer seperation and get a wide beam phaser blast? 2 words; battle cloak. Remove ability to use cannons, its a modified Galaxy, not an escort. Cup holders and seat belts for every chair, and air bags for the conn stations. Optional recliner for the captains chair. Oh, and on-star. Gotta have that when your 50 lightyears from home and your navigation goes out.
I agree. The JHDC and Scimitar are dreadful things to face. The Galaxy Dreadnought, not so much. Mine is just a regular Galaxy with a bit more teeth and occasional Lance uppercut if I'm lucky. Most effect I get out of it is popping Vault Weavers with it.
Honestly if the Lance was fixed, and the Lt.C station made universal I would be happy.
I know, I know. There is too much universal-ness going on in STO. That said, lets just jump the Galaxy X on the bandwagon and make her truly useful. Please?

Edit: I'll even be okay with it not having a fleet 10-console version!
