I gave this some thought and tried to streamline this list and cut out most of my reasons and opinions. I hope it is helpful.

This is what I would like to see in STO:

Short term fixes:

• Option to turn off help tips at Starbase One.

• Option to turn off “key-not-ready” sound.

• Option to change mouse pointer to a more visible color and have its own scale slider.

• Mandatory capitalization of character and ship names.

• NPCs should have random sayings and perhaps even mission related information when you click them. (These should suit their class/race, of course.)

• Get rid of the skill cap. You are currently profiting off of an unpopular idea that is hindering character diversity.

• Communication “interruptions” should not occur in the center of the screen (while in the middle of combat.) This should be movable like the rest of the HUD or should only appear in a corner of the screen

• Rename the first five ranks of Lieutenant to Lieutenant Junior Grade.

Medium term fixes:

• More voice acting.

• End ship destruction in PvE.

Have ships become “incapacitated” like in ground combat. The ship could become a drifting hulk that is ignored by the enemy and the player is given a choice to “call for help” or “respawn.” This would improve the suspension of disbelief which is shattered when my ship and crew explode in a ball of fire… just to pop back into existence a couple of seconds later.

• Non-combat missions. Anything that adds to the game experience in which I am not called upon to kill something.

I like killing things, but even Kirk wouldn’t kill a Gorn for the amusement of others.

• More civilian interaction/missions. Someone in Quark’s needs a favor (that hopefully doesn’t break Starfleet regulations)?

• How about a stun setting…

I think you know that I don’t mean an “expose.” Stun the enemy and then tag them for transport to the ship. (It could “look” just like being dead too with a five minute timer.)

• Hailing Frequencies: A new chat between two characters complete with visual element of the character head.

(ex: hail: @name …to open the chat, then standard IM chat scrolls below “head” graphic. Blinking Icon with sound effect tells the player they are being hailed.)

• Give the Klingon faction access to Gorn and Orion ships, uniforms, homeworlds, etc.

• More cross-level flexibility.

Could we have some reasons to hang on to those low level ships and own a runabout? Right now, we can still enter low level “Protect the sector” games, but all of the “fleet actions” are scaled to the point of being unplayable (instant death) and un-interesting to me. I would like to see fleet actions de-scaled.

Long term fixes:

• More immersive settings/interactive npcs.

Expand upon what you have. Starbase One could use more accessible levels. This could happen quickly by reusing levels from other starbases. Vulcan could do with a little content.

• Patrols unlock worlds instead of them being “one shot” levels.

• An in-game reputation system.

Unethical captains could find themselves demoted or ousted from their faction? It might be “easy” to assume that a Captain would follow the Prime Directive all of the time and script the game to not allow for bad choices. So far most choices seem to be push the pew-pew button or die.

I may have to come back and add more some day, but for now this is it. Thank you for your time.

I like it Kier X, I think this could work well with the Demotion Feature we were talking about the other day!

cryptic discussed the option to make planets social unless you have the requirements for the mission to commence in a Hailing frequency interview a while back as I recall Craig said that they had it like that during internal beta, but it got too confusing for people.

This would actually be a perfect solution to the "no kill penalty" problem. Kudos. Id add on a really slow repair time, to further improve the suspension of disbelief, and to give players an incentive to NOT die. Again, good idea.

Short Term...
More Missions.

more ship classes.

Throw in some mini-games and other fluff. challenge a player to a game of 3d-chess or that weird, 3D version of Risk Data played all those episodes ago. or just open up a few casinos.

Let us access the replicator while on the bridge.

More details in the skills menu. we should be able to see every advantage of a skill without having to switch between windows.

Mid / Long Term ( I can never decide where my ideas would fit)...
More ship interiors. my ship should be my home, not just my office.

More exploration. Let me go to a planet, where I dont currently have a mission, beam down, and just walk around scanning things. Let us find some old ruins, or talk to the locals, go shopping, etc...

Crafting Crafting crafting crafting CRAFTING!!! STO has crafting like FF8 had crafting, IE: not at all. your not crafting items your buying them.

Sub Classes!!!! Pilot, smuggler, builder (CRAFTING!), Medic, Geologist, Astrophysicist, archaeologist, tomb raider, brawler, mercenary, Diplomat, assassin, good cop, bad cop, etc...
being a pilot could give you extra maneuverability buffs
a merchant could give you heckling skill to reduce the prices at vendors
the possibilities are endless and would add vast amounts of depth to what currently amounts to a shallow game.

All I really want is something other than "warp to X sector, shoot things. beam down to planet, shoot things. rinse, wash repeat."

Here are some simple suggestions that can enhance the game:

Short Term:
Make the particles that fly by in Sector mode streak the way they do in the TV series. It would make your ship look like it's really warping. Also when going into warp or beaming in/out, there should be an option to let the camera be free so you can rotate and look around.

Mid Term:
Add an Obesity/Body Weight parameter to your character body appearance. Not every bipedal being in the universe is slim and fit ya know
Make the Sol system larger by including all the planets of our solar system.

Long Term:
I don't know if this would be possible but it would be really nice if the game was more seamless with less loading screens and instancing. Much the way that space really is. This way you could fly from one system to another without any loading screens. The camera would follow your ship as it goes into warp and you could truly enjoy the entire journey. You'd also be able to see distant stars, planets and nebulae pass by as you're moving through space in warp speed. When you arrive at your destination, it'll really feel like you traveled across the expansive universe.

1) Fly the ship you like the best in the class you which to fly and make consoles something you may aquire for the class of ship you most wish to fly.

2) More missions without combat

3) More perks for lifetime subscribers

# 1408 Romulans

Romulans need to be a playable race. I think being in a frengi marauder would be cool to. but plainly put the game needs more factions and to be honest if i knew i could not be a romulan i would have waited to buy the game. Federation, kklingons and romulans are the bread and butter of star trek history and lore. Cryptic why did you launch the game so incomplete.

Isn't DS9 like that now? If they are talking about flying into an empty and unexpanded system just to chat as you float around looking at the pretty scenery, I agree that could be a bit confusing!

I'm actually suggesting that these worlds (and probably only some of them) could be visited after the mission, especially those with a Starbase in them, but at least two or three in each sector. Put a couple of merchants (maybe one with some unusual items) and tie in some of the other ideas that build the depth and social setting of the game (character/fleet HQ, crafting shops, training facilities, non-military missions, archeological digs, etc...) and I think this would be "less" confusing. Perhaps after the mission the planetary leader could invite the captain to beam down for a Romulan Ale, establishing the world as a place to visit in the future. Maybe when a new rank is reached new missions could open up in the old systems and/or new Starbases can be built in a system as the "timeline" progresses with new updates and "seasons."

I'm not trying to press the issue if it doesn't work. Perhaps just having more static "non-mission" worlds would do the trick. I appreciate the input from everyone. Thanks.

How about a seedy consensual (challenge only) PvP bar/arena where you can't equip weapons, but can pumel each other senseless? Lots of Orion Slave Girls dancing and ridiculous cantina band music too! Put it near K-7, so all factions can enjoy. (K-7 would've been perfect if it was still neutral.)
