Some hide it better by simply chaning the environment. On your first day you fight two headed monkeys in a jungle, on the second day three headed lizards at the beach.

STO does not even offer this kind of variety. Most missions look the same, no matter what corner of the galaxy you're floating around currently.

(b) scan this
(c) kill hese
(d) go here
(e) kill more of these
(f) beam down and kill and scan more things
(g)warp to sector space
(h) go back to a

I mean I don't think many of us know how to build a warp drive, so what else is there in an MMO?
Crafting: Which will die out as more and more people get top tier gear that they can't lose, killing the demand.

Trading/Economy: Which will also die out at the top end because once you have your gear you can't lose it in any way, thus ceasing the flow of money, the primary culprit of economy death in so many MMO's before this one.

Large scale raid/instances: Which will be little more than "lets see how many escorts we can get" due to the fact that you can just die over and over again until you win

Territorial gameplay: Hasn't been implemented yet, and due to the nature of the game, unlikely to ever be.

Global Events: Probably just going to be "Oh noes, we're being invaded, kill all the new enemies!" due to the lack of any real depth past combat. WHich is just as shallow because of the aforementioned "throw my ship into harms way over and over again" respawn system

I just got done with an quest that was no ****, beam down to the planet and activate 4 objects. Seriously. Thats one thing they can improve upon. How about some diplomacy missions that aren't "answer five super obvious questions" style

I'm still holding out hope, because there's no where to go but up from here, but really, they have managed to take an incredibly dilluted genre, and watered it down even more. I saw a thread a little while back trying to get rid of the freaking Transwarp cooldown... What the hell? Lets just add a "Win" button and be done with it.

Combat: Good lord this has room to be done differently/improved. Awesome awesome concept. Stupid as **** AI and lack of need for support classes dumb it down and ruin the execution. I feel like a dreadnought wrecking 3-4 times as many ships in my team.

There is more impact from failure in Minesweeper than this, andit involves the same point and click gameplay. Really, everyone who thinks the game is fine as is, take an honest look at what we have, and if you think that you can handle this wash/rinse/repeat gameplay for 3, 6, 12 months, THen I completely disagree with you.

I'm not trying to bash the game, its just SO CLOSE to being something spectacular, and I really want to see it get there.

I dunno, so far Exploration has been the big glaring hole for me. I've several times warped down to a planet, ran around and scanned five artifacts, and beamed back up. PULSE POUNDING ACTION, if I've ever experienced it to be sure.

some hide it better than others
you have go four systems to go get some quafe and you get ambushed by pirates

or you go on a cigerette run for your agent i am not lieing (courier)

some have you pick up toy dolls for daughters birthday (courier)

it would be cool to see a random mission generator

who -would be the antagonist faction borg, klingon, federation, cardasian, romulan, unknoun alian...ect
what -would be combat, exploration, diplo, courier,
exploration
would have minor 2d to complex 3d puzzels to unlock other areas of maps. they could also have unexcessable areas that require you to have items or artifacts you find in other sites only of the same who

it could also encompass when too

it would be kinda cool to beam to a pre warp planet rescue some scientist that got cought
and have all the crew get sergically alterd, with and clothing that fits the enviroment. you cant use weapons or get seen using the tri corder if you fail you los exploration points or break the prime diredtive you lose merits not many, like 50. but if you complete it then you a balanced amount based on the lvl of dificulty

diplo, you could be on a mission to try to mediate fueding between 2 worlds and there is a assanation attempt, and you have to solve the murder, witch may require you to make an educated guess of who done it with minimal amount of help from your BO's. but if you have batazed science officer, when questioning people that officer can tell if they lieing or not.

diplo could also be were you run across a pre warp planet beeming out a request for medical supplies or provisions, and you have the choise ignoring it, uphold the primedirective witch gives a few star fleet merits and some other skill points. or just through the prime directive out the door and give it too them and get someexploration points and lose some merit. or try to give it too them with out contamination. were you gotta be carefull that they get it, but dont figure out rouse, as a reward you get exploration, merits, and may be the locals give some sacred trinket that fell from long ago that may unlock an otherwise closed area in a site. the descriptions of the key should match the lock, and if the cpt has came across the lock before and justs goes through his notes he finds it and may be if possible warps to back to the area. if not he can hold on to the item or reprocess it for energy.

diplo could also be a npc interaction option kind of like in elder scroll oblivion. that may lead to otherwise locked mission objectives and mission rewards. the benifiate of being in a team would be that each player gets one chance at diplo interaction to boost the npcs reaction to the team with an npc in a mission.
reaction from the npc ould be effected by you/ or your teams members faction sex and species. so a klingon male sovanist that hates volcans may not respond, may not react to well to ta'pal being in your away team, but may react better to warf being there.

No, this isn't mmo 101. Others may have you going here and there to kill and whatnot, but atleast they have the common decency to change the layout. I hate that everything looks the same, you beam down to a whole planet and see one building. It reminds me of why City of Heroes failed. Everything looked the same. On top of that, the gameplay is sloooooooow. I wanna fall asleep anytime i have to go somewhere. I understand in the ship battles that you can't spin 180 degrees in an instant, but the constant go here, scan, go here...i mean cmon. Make it a lil more fast paced. As far as ground combat, way to easy, booooring. Loot system?....no reason to comment further. There's already too many threads bout that and they show no concern.

No wonder they offer $230 for indefinite play. Any respectable mmo would not offer such a price. If WoW did, they would lose soooo much money, but then again, they have a game to back up thier 14.99 price. STO just seems like another email scammer trying to steal my money with broken promises. I will not EVER be renewing my subscription. If I wanted a storyline, i'll read a freakin book. Enjoy your copycat of Star Wars: Jump to Lightspeed....btw, another fail game.

Cryptic really does need to add more depth to the content they have along with more content. The game is close to being something great but it is also believably far enough away that this game might just flop. I'm going to stay around in the game and on the forums posting ideas up hoping they get read.

Not sure what you expected? That is mmorpg - replace anomoly with rat's tail and you've got WoW. Sure they'll be more content comming but other mmorpgs have half a dozen years development time on this game - and the formula you describe still pretty much applies to them at their core.
