I had a TAC BoO. Rather than let him join, I trained up another TAC Bo. I trained "Beam Fire at will II" substituting "Attack Pattern Alpha II" (I guess).
Now, in skill panel it shows the "new" skill (Beam FaW), I trained to 9 but in powers list I've Pattern Alpha (and it IS Pattern Alpha
So, maybe I'm missing something but for sure something is messed up, as the skill that my BO is supposed to have (by listing in its panel!) isn't the one I can use.
My TAC BO IS at TAC console (I've just one). No one else have PAttern Alpha (being a TAC skill, it should be anyway available to another one, isn't it?).
And Beam FaW not showing. It's not big mess, Pattern Alpha is good. But it's huge issue, I guess.
In a Cruiser or Science ship if you only have ONE Tactical console it will not be high enough rank to use LT skills unless you are Commander rank. I'm not sure about escorts since they have more TAC consoles.
I'm Lt. Commander, and got a cruiser ship.
And if what you're sauing would be true, well... Why I can use Pattern Alpha (that IS a BO Lt. skill)?
Really, I'm confused. The fact is I have Pattern Alpha full working INSTEAD OF what I trained to.
So I guess it's not about how many consoles, what rank or anything else. If I can use PA I *could* use Beam:FaW (as they're same rank/console), isn't it? And despite of what in BO panel is said, I can't.
Go to the Assignment tabs and take a look at the consoles there. You should see 1 ensign science, 1 ensign tactical, 1 ensign engineer and 1 lieutenant engineer.
A Lt Cmdr Cruiser will not have a Lt rank Tactical console.
"Beam Fire at Will I" is a Tactical Ensign skill, so yes, it should be there if you have it trained.
However, if you tried to train "Beam Fire at Will II" or "Beam Fire at Will III" those will NOT be listed since your current ship does not support them. (not the 2 and 3 designations)
I'm not clear on what skill you tried to replace. The only "Alpha Pattern" skills I know of are "Dispersal Pattern Alpha I" (and higher) which are all Lieutenant skills (or higher) and wont be usable as a BO skill at your rank.
Note: If YOU are a Tactical officer, you may have some skills listed in "P" that are yours ,not your BOs. That could explain why you still see some tactical skills that you thought you replaced.
Uhm, I'm beginning to understand. There is somewhere a power list?
I am not sure if Attack Pattern Alpha II is a BO skill or it's a power related to my rank/type (I'm TAC) (as evasive manoveurs).
At this point, I guess it could be so, and I did bad choice taking a cruiser rather than an escort.
