It all depends on you really,i mean specially how do you like to play?

Without more information its hard to give any advice, you want to be fast and manouverable go with an escort (although we only have one T6 to choose from) if you like beams, and to broadside go with a cruiser, science ship if you like science skills etc etc,it all depends what and how you play...

Then go for the Command battlecruiser, its slighlty better than the Andromeda (which looks ugly as my mother in law to be honest),Presidio is a nice tactical oriented command vessel, but look around and compare, maybe you like one of the other two.

Now it all depends how much you can spend, either get one command ship (tac, sci, engi oriented),get all 3 for the console....or you can go crazy and get the Command Battlecruiser Mega Budle (9 ships total,3 for each faction) at the price of 12.000 zen,its up to you.

If you plan on activelly playing your characters of all factions, the 'iconic ships' bundle is a good value for your money, although you just missed the sale and could've gotten them cheaper this weekend. Still, they can use the iconic Star Trek skins and are all very good, versatile and solid ships and even though they're based on similar stats/preformance they still offer varied gameplay (based on preference, ofcourse). For example, I play with beams on the Fedside, mount DHC on the Klingon one since it's much faster turning and can make them work and I always used single/turrets canons on the D'D.

On the other hand, you have the Command Cruisers that are rock solid as well, very good for tanking and good average DPS. Big selling point is the "all hands on deck" trait, however if you want or need ships for all your chars from different factions, it will cost you more even if you pick up a single command cruiser per faction. Depends on how much you're willing to spend really.

Another choice, albeit a single faction one, is the Guardian which completely falls into the category of "jack of all trades" you mentioned. With it's boff layout, it is very verstile and truly a jack of all trades. Very good ship.

At last, if you want a powerfull and durable tactical T6 cruiser with access to all the OP intel stuff (that might or might not get nerfed, but it's pretty unbalanced atm), there is the Eclipse. But that one pretty much looks like crap, if you ask me. *shrugs*

Yep, I have to jump in again and agree, if you don't mind a T5U ship instead of T6, by all means - Excelsior! It truly is a great cruiser and one of the most fun ships in the game.

Honestly, rather you pick the Iconic Ship Pack or the Command Cruiser 3 pack.. you can't lose.

Both packs contain the best ships that they have released in a long time, both in functionality and design. Overall, as a tie breaker, I would look at how much you intend to play your alts. If you play all of your faction characters, then I would go Iconic because you'll unlock a ship for Fed, Romulan and KDF.

If you just focus on your Fed guy most of the time and just casually play your Alts, then I would look more toward the Command Cruiser 3 pack. Overall, it's personal taste.. I prefer the Command ships.. but you can't lose either way.

You have narrowed your options down to the best ships in the game. You really don't have a bad option here.

If you're buying T6 cruisers, you're better off with the Command Cruisers in terms of stats and traits, especially the Tactical variants.

The Command Cruisers are T6.5 (13 seats, 11 consoles) while the Iconic Cruisers are only T6 (13 seats, 10 consoles).

Like the OP I just came back after a break. I had enough Veteran's Zs to get the Command 3-pack and am quite pleased with it. The Tac Command Cruiser - Presidio Class is just about the cruiser that I had always wanted in STO. It has a nice BO and console set-up, a hanger, handles pretty well, and has some nifty toys if you use the Command Cruiser consoles.
