First, I should say that I have played Federation through Commander 7, and Klingon through LC 8. Here are a few of my thoughts on the balance:

1. Tier one seems to favor Klingons in space, while being evenly matched on ground.

2. Tier 2 seems to favor the Klingons in space during disorganized pugs, but heavily favors federation when there are two organized teams. Ground is evenly matched with neither side having a distinct advantage, given that everyone has access to the same gear and tactics.

3. Tier 3 seems similar to Tier 2.

These are my observations as well.

I'd say that tier 1 was 'heavily favor' in space. On ground tier 1 feds have a better default weapon combo, but that shouldn't matter.

T3 would go to Klingons if half were any decent at the game.

I've agreed in the past that Devs overdid it with our T1 ship gear. I think they should just start us off with about 600 Medals of Achievement, which isn't nearly enough for a complete outfit (ground + space...I mean, a shield alone is like 300 medals), but will buy us a thing or two to get started with.

I would never ride in a car with a Cryptic developer.

"Hey, we're doing like 30 mph in a 55 mph zone. Can you speed it up a little?"
*developer starts going 120 mph*
"Whoa! Jesus! Just pull over to the side here."
*developer spins the wheel wildly to the right, flipping the car over 10 times*

Cryptic doesn't believe in taking incremental steps towards a solution.

Arguments over the thermostat at the office must get interesting, too.

"Man, it's cold in here, I'm going to turn it up a little."
*adjusts thermostat to 120 degrees*
"Okay, now it's too hot. Let me turn it down a little."
*adjust thermostat to -30 degrees*

I play both sides too... and to tier 2... klingons only win when faced with disorganised is because klingon ships are generally geared more for the 1 vs 1 confrontation.

The rule of who generally wins in tier 1-3 is... who has the best support on their side.

since 99% of klingons I've seen play escort type configurations... klingons tends to loose alot more as soon as 1-2 science vessels pops on the feds sides... but as soon as I see klingons with support type vessels... they generally own even very well organised fed balling tactics... but then... like I said... 99% of klingons play escort type hence the really silly ball griefing... because they don't l2p.

In any war strategy... it's who ever has the best support wins... this goes for real life war too!

edit: as to balancing issues and over compensating... it's the same for ALL mmo... look at Wow as a classic example... warlocks dominated in pvp... peopel complain.. .they nerf warlocks and the next thing you know... they're the lowest in the food chain and considered free kills... then they buff warlocks a little they jump back to near the top (but not the top).... it's like a swinging pendulum that slowly adjust itself to the middle by making wide swings to either side but slowly reaching the middle.

Ships are fine, The gear is Fine. All that needs work in the game mechanic..

Any side can beat any other side with proper tactics. THAT IS A FACT!!!

You can have the Best Gear in the game. But, your ship can not stand the pounding for 5 ships for very long.

In Ship battles, Take out the Weakest link first, For Klingons that normally means they will approached Stealthed from 1 direction and **** the first ship the lock on..

Now, if you go up against a organized team that Uses Vent or TS. Yours odds of winning had dropped drastically. Cause they can Sing out.. I am JAMMED!!!.. I am taking a POUNDING!! that will get a response from someone to come to their aid and also the team wont waste their skills.. like when someones jammed they wont use 2 Science teams on them.. when 1 guy already fixed it.. They can also Sing out... "I am targeting Ship A".. Then everyone targets him.. and boom... Space Dust!!!

These Joined PvP battles are luck of the draw, unless your in a group.

Guys Dont Blame the People, Blame the game..

I have played both sides as well and while I am only in T2 Klink atm (was T3 fed during OB) I have to agree

Fed seems to have an advantage (which isnt a bad thing really, nothing in life is fair, this coming from a klink btw) but I would appreciate maybe a 5% shield boost for klink t2 ships perhaps? the main problem here is that CURRENTLY: klinks have no cruiser, which results in a very glass cannon style of gameplay that loses its edge exponentially as time wears on. once we get our cruiser we will be ok

I'd just like to comment if you think that that is 'playing both sides', then that means essentially all Klingons have played both sides, since you need to do around that much in Fed play to unlock Klingons. I think, anyways. I really haven't touched the game yet after launch and I think some things have been changed without me knowing.
